Forty-five stories collected over a span of eleven years by animal healer and communicator, Rose De Dan.

Tale of a Healer's Life Journey

Tails of a Healer is the perfect title for Rose De Dan's book detailing a period of eleven years while walking the path of an animal healer and communicator, Reiki Master, and shamanic practitioner. Some of the stories were originally published in The Kaleidoscope Journal and VerveWomen.

She shares intimate details about her own life, her companion animals, and other animals she has encountered through her life work as a healer. Through her communications, Rose serves as a bridge to understanding between people and their pets. A caring and compassionate soul, her love of animals shines throughout the book.

In her piece "Cookie Cutter Practitioners?" Rose writes about struggles and concerns she has with today's traditional and alternative healers. A primary concern is the lack of professional training among Reiki teachers. Ahem... I absolutely agree with her. Too many Reiki practitioners do not have a well-rounded understanding of energy medicine because of their instructors having taught them improperly.

Get Yourself a Hankie

Be prepared to get emotional when you read real stories about the cats, dogs, horses, wildlife, zoo animals, and other animals lucky to have been treated by or communicate with Rose. My emotions ran from feeling "complete amazement" as she told the story of rescuing a dragonfly from being trapped inside a building to experiencing a "rollicking belly laugh" when she wrote about a house spider she once discovered in her bedroom which had unnerved her. I thought it was hilarious that an animal communicator would be afraid of spiders.

There is a heart-wrenching story about the misuses of animals by uncaring individuals. Life lessons are learned from beloved animals who have since departed this world. Overall, readers will feel the deep connection Rose has for all the animals she encounters. Tails of a Healer is really a collection of love stories.

For Animal Lovers and Healers

Animal lovers everywhere will enjoy reading about the various species who made their way into Rose's life and practice. Healers will relate to the sharing of a touching life journey by a kindred spirit as she explores her own personal path and discovers that she was meant to serve humanity and the animal kingdom as a healer. Healing modalities Rose is trained in include Usui Reiki (she specializes in "Wild Reiki"), acupressure, qigong, acutonics, and shamanism.

Loved this book, Member MsJamieWV

I'm not very good at writing reviews. But I do want to say how much I loved this book. It's a wonderful collection of stories from the author's life and work with animals. It is one of the most touching books I've ever read. And it gives wonderful insight into our animal companions. I agree with Phylameana when she says get a hankie. I can't tell you how many times I cried when reading this book!! Tears of joy, tears of sadness and simply from being so profoundly moved. I am already looking forward to re-reading the book, something I rarely do in such a short time span (I just read it a couple of months ago). I admire Rose and the work she does and am grateful that she is sharing her stories with us.
