Dear Madeleine,
We adopted Larry when he was 2 years old. He was saved from being euthanized by minutes by a rescue group. Larry is a mix of Corgi and Swedish Vallhund. The one problem he has is his weight. Poor thing has been on dog food that is low in calories almost since we got him. The veterinarian said he is healthy and gave us prescription diet dog food from the office and still Larry has not lost any weight. Larry needs to lose 8 - 10 pounds. Any suggestions? I am worried that all this extra weight will shorten his life or eventually lead to health problems.

Theresa,
This may sound silly but I think he is hanging onto the weight because of emotional issues rather like a person can. Also are you sure that he gets plenty of exercise which will help to burn off calories! I'm sorry if this is a little personal but are there any health issues that you need to address as he also might be flagging up some areas you need to look at? We all need to 'hear' what our animals are saying to us as they care deeply for our well being. Have a think and see if you can address things together? He may need his aura and chakras balancing which will also help him feel safer and happier so he can let go of the past. Do hope this helps.
Best Wishes,
