It is difficult to
listen to your inner voice when there is so much noise all around us. Naturally, we don't have the power to silence everything but we can turn down the volume by shutting down noise makers (telephones, televisions, radios, etc.). We can also remove ourselves from noisy atmospheres.
Go to the park instead of the shopping mall. Also, go to the library where noise is "more hushed" instead of the Internet cafes. Ear plugs can also help buffer noisy outdoor intrusions such as traffic sounds (sirens, honking, revved up engines). Try to spend a few minutes in silence each day. Allowing quiet moments can open us up to new ideas and also promotes problem solving.
