Question: Do I stay where I'm comfortable or take a leap into the unknown?
Answer: Full Question: I have been given an opportunity (and the financial support) to follow my dream of opening a dog rescue and sanctuary. I have very little experience in rescue work but I am doing a lot of research and learning about it before I commit to anything. Although I am incredibly excited by this possibility, I'm also quite anxious about it. I know that rescue work is difficult and I'm a sensitive, emotional person so I don't know if I'm strong enough to take it on. To do it would mean changing my life completely, moving out of the area and leaving a career that I'm doing well at and am very comfortable in (though it is by no means my passion).Do I stay where I'm comfortable or take a leap into the unknown?

This is a major life question. “Do I do what I love or live where I am comfortable?” I like to ask, “Will I learn and grow by changing my life?” Generally when we choose to stay in comfort, we slow our evolution. Ask yourself which you feel would be best for you at this time.
I would also suggest referring to the book What Color is Your Parachute?, by Richard Nelson Bolles for conducting informational interviews. This is the process of interviewing people who are already in the job that you are considering. Ask other people who run dog rescue facilities what is really involved in the day to day management? Ask what they go through emotionally when faced with a dog in great need. Volunteer to work in their establishment for a week or more, so that you get a real taste of what is involved. You will be able to make a clearer decision once you have more information.
It is not every day we are faced with the opportunity to live our passion. Think carefully, weigh your options and don’t be afraid to live it passionately!
Many Blessings,
Jaelin
