DAY 4 - I didn't sleep very well last night. My stomach doesn't feel normal. I think my digestive system is trying to adjust to the different diet. One of the effects of this diet is constipation, so it is no wonder I'm feeling a bit sluggish. I'm accustomed to eating fruits regularly. I think I will start drinking hot tea daily, that should help. On the SBD you are supposed to avoid caffeine, but since I normally drink herbal teas, no problem. I also like green tea, that does have caffeine, but the health benefits of green tea should off-set breaking that rule. I use mint sprigs from my herb garden to make fresh teas. I am also especially fond of tea blends from Mountain Rose Herbs.
On a lighter note: I feel and look slimmer this morning. Okay, just somewhat, but the scales and tape measure confirm it. I'm two pounds lighter and have lost one inch from my bustline, and another inch from my waist. A good start, I'm smiling.
Breakfast - Scrambled egg, canadian bacon, V8 juice. Cup of hot tea (Mountain Rose Herbs: Women's Balancing Blend).
Mid-Morning Snack - skip
Lunch - skip
Mid-Afternoon Snack - Sugarfree fudgesickle (Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom Fudge Lites).
Supper - Baked pork loin and roasted vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, asparagus, and onions).
Dessert - skip
This has been a long day. I didn't plan on skipping lunch but I was busy.
When I get absorbed in my various projects time slips away from me. The best part was that I didn't once think about wanting a cola. I think I may need to start eating a more sparse breakfast so I will be more apt to feel hungry enough take time to eat lunch. But perhaps it doesn't matter if I skip meals or snacks when I'm not feeling hungry. My breakfasts and suppers have been extremely filling, it feels strange feeling so full! The Fudge Lite was pretty tasty, although it did leave a slight after taste in my mouth. I'm not a big fan of artificial sweetners, but I think I'll treat myself with one again sometime. My husband thought they were very good and fun to eat, he ate two!
DAY 5 - Wow! I've dropped another 1.5 lbs, for a total of 3.5 pounds after just four days on this diet. I hope momentum continues. I've learned that it is important to always weigh myself at the same time of the day to get an accurate reading. I do it first thing in the morning after a quick trip to the bathroom.
Breakfast - Hummus spread on celery, V8 juice.
Mid-Morning Snack - skip
Lunch - double cheeseburger with mustard and onion (no bun). Cottage Cheese. Iced Tea.
Mid-Afternoon Snack - cheese stick
Supper - Grilled chicken breast, sauted mushrooms, and one Vegetable Quiche Cup (recipe from the SBD book).
Dessert -
My hummus stuffed celery breakfast was a nice change. I like eggs okay, and I use healthy Omega eggs, but I simply could not stomach another egg breakfast this morning. I had an out of town appointment this morning so I was on the road traveling when it was time for my mid-morning snack. I had tucked one of my nut cups in my purse for this purpose but didn't feel hungry enough to have it. I ordered the cheeseburger in a cafe before heading home. Their menu didn't have many options for me but the cheeseburger suited me okay. However, I should not have ordered the tea because of the no-caffeine rule on this diet. I ordered it out of habit without thinking. After my waitress served it I couldn't resist drinking it. Another stomach fulfilling day!
