Profiling Holistic Healers

Creating a Healer Database

By Phylameana lila Desy, About.com

I have decided to embark on a new project that I think could possibly become quite a time-consuming one for me, but hopefully not a project so huge that I won't be able to maintain it. I'm certainly willing to give it a go and see where this path leads me.

In the past six years I've had the opportunity to correspond with many healers. I've linked to many of their Web pages throughout the About Holistic Healing Guide site in various categories. Naturally, I will continue to do this.

I've also diligently maintained an International Directory for Reiki Practitioners. I do my best to keep it updated regularly. I've had several healers who are trained in a variety of different modalities email me with requests to create similar directories for massage therapists, acupuncturists, hypnotherapists, etc. Frankly, I've had to answer no to these requests because I knew I wasn't up to the task. I'm only one person after all, and the maintenance required on juggling so many different directories would be impossible for me to keep under control.

Instead, what I have decided to offer to healers on the Internet are snappy and tidy profile pages. Each page will feature the healer's photo and a brief introduction along with whatever healing modalities he or she practices. This page is not meant to be a free advertisement for healers, but merely a gateway to their personal Web presences for any readers who want to learn more about them. Yes, a healer is required to have a Web site in order to be eligible for profiling.

I have set up an example Holistic Healer Profile that features Mary Maddox to help demonstrate what a profile page will look like. I'm excited about getting started featuring healers in this new database. There is no cost involved for a holistic healer to get his or her profile published. However, there are a few conditions that each person will be expected to meet. Without these few stipulations I've put in place I'm afraid I would be overwhelmed with requests so there will be no exceptions. The Holistic Healer Profiles will be brief because they are intended to informational, not advertisements.
