Survivor of the Arizona sweat lodge tragedy that occurred on October 8 is suing James Ray. Sidney Spencer, age 59, suffered damage to her kidneys and also experienced liver failure. Her initial symptoms were passing out, vomiting blood, and having double vision. She spent four and a half days in intensive care after being rescued from what her attorney is calling the "death trap." Reportedly, it was Ray's coercive and intimidating behavior that bullied participants to remain inside the structure despite physical signs that things were going badly.
The first lawsuit in the works announced to the media last week came from the family of Liz Neuman, a 49yo woman from Minnesota who died after being in a coma as a result of participating in the sweat. Two others who died on October 8th are Kirby Brown (38yo woman from NY) and James Shore (40yo man from Minnesota).
