Curse Away Your Pain

Monday July 13, 2009
Maybe mothers should think twice before reaching for that bar of soap to wash out their little boys and girls' mouths for uttering swear words. At the very least moms could first evaluate the reason why their children cursed out loud.

Results of a health study reported by LiveScience Staff indicates swearing makes pain more tolerable. Researchers from the study feel that swearing downplays the painful event.

I imagine a loud utterance of OUCH!! could have the same effect. Our reactions to suffering and attitudes about pain are very personal. So, hey, if foul language helps, alrighty then! When it comes to pain management, I say do whatever works, DANG!
