holistic healingA sinus wash is recommended as part of your daily personal hygiene regimen. Routinely flushing your nasal passages with a saline solution relieves symptoms associated with colds and flu, sinusitis, nasal dryness, allergies, and other sinus irritations. It has also been reported to reduce swelling of the nasal membranes, lighten dark circles under the eyes, and freshen your breath.

In regards to the article on the Neti Pot it said to use tap water. I have to take exception to that as some tap water is not very safe to put in your nose…. It is much better to use distilled water for the neti pot. That is what my Ear Nose and Throat Doctor told me also.

You do a wonder full job Phylameana, keep up the good work.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your comment! You make a valid argument for distilled VS tap water. People should use their own judgement as to whether or not the tap water in their homes are safe to use. Some homes have filtered tap water. For my own use, I’m okay with using the tap water in my area for bathing, cooking, and even drinking. I prefer to drink purified water, but for bathing and neti potting, the tap water suffices. If I didn’t use the the tap water from the bathroom basin and chose to use distilled water I’d be majorly inconvenienced since our bathroom is on the upper floor and the stove/microwave is on the first level. Call me lazy but I would be annoyed having to heat the water for the neti pot downstairs and then walk upstairs to the bathroom basin to do my sinus wash. Using the kitchen sink…. NO NO… disgusting. This reminds me of the scene in on an episode on HBO’s show Six Feet Under when George revealed to Ruth that he keeps his neti pot in the cabinet above the sink in the kitchen where she prepared the family meals.

Hi Phylameana,
Well after reading why you do the neti pot in the shower I had another lady tell me she did the same thing plus some yoga breathing and how it was helping her I decided that spirit was telling me to try it also. I wasn’t using the Neti pot near as often as I should because it was such a hasle to use before. I have been using the neti pot every day now and it is so much easier. I recomend using the neti pot in the shower so you can use it every day and do some good.
thanks Phylameana.
