De-Funk your beliefs
- I find when I get into a funk, it is because my thinking and beliefs have gone negative. I re-examine my beliefs that run through my constant mind chatter and dump the ones that don't serve me. Easier said than done, but it eliminates the cause of the funk.

copper (astological & mineral)
- One can try wearing a piece of copper close to the skin, even copper wire made into a ring can help. If there is astrological interference this can have immediate effect. Of course if not then other methods will be required. It will also boost the level of copper in your body.

Enthusiasm makes the difference!
- Passion and commitment dispel funk. By involving oneself in a cause, hobby, movement,or interest one gets out of self centred despondency. For example I have a friend who is a fanatical bird watcher. I have never seen him happier than when he is looking at native birds through binoculars. Socializing with good friends, the company of those we like is a great tonic. Thinking of others instead of ourselves distracts us from egocentric preoccupations and helps us to get out of funk.

Choose Gratitude
- I've battled depression all my life. Sometimes if I can feel it coming on I have to take some time and really look at what is bringing me down and focus on the positives. I sometimes sit with a piece of paper and actually write down the blessings in my life. Sometimes specific things bring me down, like trouble at work and I have to remind myself that it is a blessing to have any job at all. And that having this job allows me to help take care of my family. Sometimes the things that are bothering me seem really trivial (the pile of laundry that's the size of Everest) but if I look deep enough I can find a blessing in that too (the fact that I have a loving husband and precious children to wash clothes for). It's not always easy to see the good aspects of a bad situation, but you might realize that things aren't as bad as they seem.

Ways I believe to get out of depression
- Listening to truly inspirational stories that give you hope for life and encapsulate the beauty that is life. Many people are too caught up in day-to-day activities, and don't see the beauty that is around them; their children, their friends and family, the fact that we get to wake up each day with the chance of making our world that much better of a place for us and our children I had some tragic events happen to me my senior year in high schools and they've really shown me the light. Talk with friends

Write it down talk it out
- When I get in one of those moods I like to write it down and then throw it away. If that doesn't work I talk to god and let him know how I'm feeling and ask him to help me get out of my depression. That works most of the time because life can be really demanding sometimes.

Horse Wisdom
- Create an exquisite place of oneness with collective wisdom of the horse ancestors by allowing a horse to breathe rhythmically and through this rhythm, be engaged eye to eye, breath to breath. Feel the “alayayujnana..or storehouse of consciousness” and whala! Funk is gone.

Walk and Exercise on Beach
- It is amazingly energizing to walk and exercise on the beach, in front of the ocean or where the water comes in to meet the beach. That is THE most energized place for me, and it always works. Lying in the sun, too, works for me. I am a beach lover and I am so thankful for the beach's healing energy.

Swarodaya
- We normally breathe with one nostril. Breathing is changed alternatively. When you are depressed, find out which nostril is active. Block that nostril with the finger and start breathing from the other one. In this way the pattern will change and your mood will also change. This is based one the science of swarodaya. Search the word for full details. One can block right nostril from 1 pm to 4 pm. with a plug of cotton. This establishes the proper rhythm and reduces depression.

Dancing / Baking Bread
- I have several ways to get out of a funk. I listen to the old bands of the 40's. Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Harry James and dance around the house. I live in nature and have in winter, gone out in the snow and made "snow angles"... what fun, makes me feel free as a child again. I have written poetry as a metaphor of my feelings at that moment in time. Over the past month, I have been baking different kinds of whole wheat bread and giving loaves to my friends, asking their opinions on which one they think is the best. The process of baking bread is very cathartic, especially when one is kneading the bread. Also, do deep breathing and meditate but some times, it's more important to get the body moving, even when you don't feel like it. Last summer while attending to my garden, I noticed many dragonflies, large and small, all different colors. As I stood there, a large Dragonfly landed on my hand and just stayed there, it was beautiful iridescent blues and greens. What Joy, made my day!

Out of a Funk
- I put up her,[Mywife] memorial stone in a special place in the woods. the short trip through the meadow, the mighty oaks the solitude, it was the sanity now, and on 9/11 the only place to find sanity. As I advance from my 64 yrs. to the stone of 16 yrs. I find sanctity. Many times with health, my S.O. 16.5 YRS older, failing faster, do I find relief in our woods. It is enchanted by the spirits of Indian tribes an there village nearby, the warp of personified energies of a warp that we can't touch but we feel. This hallowed place is beyond explanation, only acceptance.

Water and the Gym
- Two things I find to be helpful: drinking water (too little or too much can have significant effects upon your physiology). Go to the gym, especially if you don't get much physical excercise. Going to the gym (or whatever physical activity you enjoy) regularily can help keep funks at bay.
