My Reading Tea Leaves Experience

The first time I ever drank a cup of tea for the purpose of divination was over thirty years ago. I was pregnant at the time and my question was a simple one. "What is my baby's gender?" Nothing seemed clear in the tea markings so I had to wait for my daughter to be born to have my answer. But, I remember there was a clump of wetted leaves that looked like a seahorse. I thought that was charming but didn't have a clue what that could possibly mean. Since then I have drunk hundreds of cups of tea but have only peered into the bottom of my cups for insights a handful of times. Even so, it was fun every time!

What Was Your Question?

My initial intention for doing this tea leaf reading was to feature a photo of the bottom of my tea cup as my "Wordless Wednesday" blog post. I had no idea that my readers would be so good at interpreting the symbols and messages. I didn't have a question in mind like I normally would when focused on divining information. But, that's okay. A person can chose to have general reading done when he doesn't have a pressing question.

Lessons Learned

  • In my blog post I purposely did not share personal insights from peering down into my cup. But, I will now. I saw a single rose laying at the foot of what resembled the Great Wall of China. My husband and I went to China for our honeymoon and we walked along the Great Wall so I thought this was especially interesting that the rose (love) was near the wall marking. In the lower section of the cup I felt the leaves looked like an energetic swirl. I'm fond of spirals, to me spirals represent cycle of life. The spiral seemed heavy and moving in a slow swirling motion, so I wondered what's up with that?
