Death card. I decided to paint the Major Arcana in order to learn the Tarot cards.
About My Art Card
I was always interested in the cards and admired those that could read them. They seemed to complicated to even begin studying. Finally I picked up a deck and had a book explaining the process of learning. In the book it said to pick a Major Arcana card and study its meaning, notice every aspect, and look up the symbols in the book. Then repeat the process until you have studied all 22. I began the process and then it hit me to simply paint the cards. I thought: what better way to study them by actually painting every aspect.
Tips and Tricks
- I do what is considered backwards painting. I paint right on the glass. I turn the glass over for the finished product. A little tricky at times but well worth the effort.
- It is likened to painting a scene on a storefront window at Christmas time. In fact, that is where my idea of painting on glass came from. As a kid I would watch my mom paint storefront windows at Christmas for extra gift money.
