How I Managed to Break It
I smoked for 30 years and tried to quit 7 times. Each time I gained 20 pounds, I wanted to eat and eat to make up for not smoking. I hated myself and went back to smoking just to lose the weight! To make a long story short, my husband who quit smoking 22 years ago has stage III colon cancer. I have been researching different alternative therapies and discovered what smoking does to your body. I know it's bad for the lungs, but found out that it causes many, many diseases including colon cancer. After seeing my husband's pain, surgery, side effects of the toxic chemotherapy and the fear of death in his eyes, I quit 3 months ago.
Advice
- Cold turkey is the best way.
- Research what smoking does to you, it will scare you into stopping.
- Try the electronic cigarette. It's free with trial. I used this to stop in only 2 weeks.
- Change your daily habits. Don't do the same thing as before. Drink hot tea instead of coffee. Chew gum or eat sunflower seeds.
- Exercize a few minutes everyday.
- Love yourself and forgive.
