Why I Love Reiki

I love Reiki because it is a complete life Way that is there to support you at every step of your path and every stage of your growth. Whether your goal is to practice a gentle yet powerful, non-invasive healing technique, to live the Five Reiki Principles ("Just for Today: Don't worry. Don't get angry. Be grateful. Work hard. Be kind.") in your daily life, to attain enlightenment, or all of the above, Reiki can show you the way. And I'm grateful that Reiki isn't tied to a religion, so that anyone, anywhere, whatever their faith or lack thereof, can practice Reiki and proceed in their own way and at their own pace.

About My Reiki Blog

My Reiki blog is my gift to the Reiki community, a way of giving back for all the blessings I've received along my own Reiki path. In it, I share Reiki wisdom, Reiki stories, Reiki tips, as well as discoveries, thought-provoking quotes, and observations that I hope will help others who follow the Reiki Way.

I'm a Reiki Master/Shihan (teacher) trained in Usui Shiki Ryoho (Traditional Reiki), Gendai Reiki, and Komyo Reiki, the Reiki of Enlightenment, and I try to share insights from all these lineages on my blog. I also believe, along with Reiki's Founder, Mikao Usui, that trying to live the Five Reiki Principles (aka Precepts, Ideals) is "the secret method for inviting happiness, the miracle cure for all diseases," and emphasize them and ways to approach them in my blog; I'm convinced that steady practice of the Principles is the key to enlightenment.

My Reiki blog also discusses practical ways to incorporate Reiki practice into everyday living, from cooking to tending a garden to sharing Reiki with animals, and calling on Reiki to help with the inevitable snags and aggravations of life, be it an irritating boss or coworker, a thorny family relationship, distressing memories, or even a traffic jam (which inevitably happens when you're rushing to a meeting or a gathering or some other deadline-driven situation).

The steady application of Reiki, from daily self-healing to the Principles, can free you from the burdens of the past and the worries of the future, leaving you free to fully live in the present, enjoying each moment as it unfolds as something fresh, new, wonderful. Anger, anxiety, resentment, boredom, and all negative emotions drop away, leaving a world, a life, of serenity and wonder. I can think of no greater gift, and I hope my blog reflects that.

Lessons Learned

  • I think the greatest lesson I've learned is the tremendous power of Reiki to effect change.
  • In my classes, I've seen people who have suffered terrible experiences and losses in their lives come out of their shadows and become radiant.
  • I've seen pets whose owners made them into nervous wrecks by expecting them to act like people become relaxed, calm, and peaceful, often falling asleep under my hands.
  • I've seen amazing hands-on and distant healings.
  • And I've seen how Reiki has transformed my own life, gently, gradually, but inexorably, lighting the Way to a becoming a better person than I could have imagined.
