About Me and Why I Blog

I'm a paq’o and mesa carrier in the Q’ero Peruvian Andean Medicine Tradition, animal communicator, Reiki Master Teacher, artist and author of Tails of a Healer: Animals, Reiki and Shamanism.

Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing was created when I took my first class in Reiki in 1996, creating one of the first professional energy healing practices for people and animals in the U.S. The principal philosophies of Wild Reiki and Shamanic Healing are equality between species, and animals as teachers and healers. I view my role as one of building bridges between people and animals, and blog about my experiences.

What I Write About in My Blog

“If you talk to the animals they will talk with you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them and what you do not know, you will fear. What one fears, one destroys.”—Chief Dan George

I think the quote above summarizes quite a bit of what I write about: animals, the natural world, stories of my personal experiences with energy healing that might be of benefit to others on their path, information for the Reiki or shamanic practitioner, events at WRSH, and generally what I find inspirational. I am passionate about photography as well, and pair photos I take with my posts. The animal communication skills come in handy when working with a camera-shy subject!

Here is a sampling of various topics from my blog:

  • Reiki and the Harbor Seal
  • Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Aunt Rose
  • Stress Busting 101, Not Just for Cats
  • The Animal Shaman, the Elk, and the Sword
  • Unleash your animal spirit!

Advice

  • I don't know that I have an special tips, but I have found that posting at least once a week is advisable; even better, 2-3 times. Less readership on Friday/Saturday.
  • Have your blog be a page on your website, make it easy for people to sign up for your newsletter, and let them know there are new posts when you send it out (which should ideally be once a week).
