Why I Chose Ear Candling Therapy
My ears tend to block quite easily, e.g. if I go swimming and put my head under water without blocking out my ears. When this happens, I can literally hear water swilling around in my ears and it takes days if not weeks to clear and can clearly be very uncomfortable.
I thought I'd try ear candling as an alternative to the regular use of olive oil in my ears, which I tend to do approximately once a month as this was suggested several years' ago by my GP as an alternative to regular syringing to stop the wax hardening in my ears. I thought if the ear candling was effective, then I'd do that once a month instead of oil.
About My Ear Candling Session
I have to say that I enjoyed the ear candling session and felt really relaxed afterwards. The next day, my nose felt clearer too. After just a couple of days however, the clear nose and feeling that I'd benefitted from the candling quickly wore off and the wax in my ears quickly re-hardened. Today, a week or so after the ear candling, I have once again used the olive oil to soften the already greatly re-hardened wax in my ears.
Advice
- I will probably not return for any further candling sessions as, although pleasant at the time, it is an expensive hobby, and that's all I believe it is.
- I don't believe at all that it is an effective method of unblocking the ears.
- Try the olive oil method recommended by my GP instead...
