Summer Solstice in the Caribbean
Visiting A Sacred Vortex On The Island of Anquilla

By Phylameana lila Desy, About.com

It didn't actually sink in that I would be spending the Summer of 1997 Solstice on St. Martin in the Caribbean until just a few days before we left home. Our vacations are often in July rather than June so it didn't come to mind directly. I ran a quick web search with two keywords Solstice+Caribbean to see if any island activities for June 21st were posted on the Internet the morning before we left.

I found a Web site regarding a healing day in Anquilla on the Summer Solstice to reactivate a Sacred Vortex in the Caribbean. But as I read over it briefly I discovered it was scheduled for 1996 - an event already done and over with. Regardless, I printed up the page and tucked it along with our plane tickets and passports to read while on the flight over to the islands.

Terri Sue Stone writes "Those who visit Anguilla during the group event or afterwards will experience what it is like to be a practical Christed Being. This grounding effect will open the Christed Heart for Humanity and alter self-expression to a higher level." This sounded fantastic so I planned to visit Anquilla and see if I would truly experience this for myself.

The Summer Solstice is also known as St. John's Day and Midsummer. It is the longest day of the summer. From this day the hours of light slowly begin to short. The Full Moon, Noontime and the Summer Solstice mark times of high energy and the beginning of a cycle of work consolidation.
We made our plans to spend our Summer Solstice traveling from St. Martin to Anquilla by ferry to visit the crystal clear beaches that all the islanders on St. Martin had been raving to us about since our arrival and also to visit the Fountain Cave mentioned in Terri's writings and explore the underground tunnel and view the petroglyph carvings left on the walls of the cave by the islanders early natives, the Arawaks.

We were told by our waiter at breakfast that we could avoid going through customs and paying the ferry fees by swimming over to the island which would take about an hour. As neither Joe and I are that adventuresome we hopped on a bus on Grand Case Boulevard and for the fare of one dollar a piece we were taken to Marigot. From Marigot we boarded a ferry and were taxied rather bumpily over the ocean waters to Anquilla.
