Reiki practitioners can give absentia Reiki treatments to individuals with whom they are not in physical contact. Similar to offering prayers, sending Reiki's healing energies remotely involves visualization and mental focus. Absentia is conducted when requested for improvement in the recipient's health, life circumstance, or comfort. Absentia, or long distance sessions, are not meant to serve as a substitute for hands-on treatments, but are a convenient alternative when circumstances prohibit a regular treatment.
