Child play sparks creativity and imagination. As adults we tend to lose that ability to imagine. Imagination is a muscle that needs to be stretched. Perhaps that is where the saying "a stretch of the imagination" comes from. Why do we limit our imaginations? A simple exercise to do to tap into a child's mind and re-spark your creative juices is to play on the ground. Build a sandcastle at the beach, make mud pies in the dirt, get down on your knees and scour that clover patch until you find a lucky four-leaf clover. Or, simply lay on the grass and look up to the skies, let your imagination soar as it floats away on a cloud. Try it. Take a small child with you for a play date if you need extra inspiration.
