Full Moon Circle Chat
Chat Transcript - July 16, 2000

From

Chat Moderator: ladyhawk

ladyhawk: This is our second circle. Before I begin, I would like to take a few minutes and briefly explain what will be happening. Please be patient , and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

ladyhawk: Since the dawn of Mankind, people of all genders, all races came together to celebrate this time, the time of the moon. For they have all know the power the moon has. They sang to the moon, they danced and they drummed. Full moon ceremonies have always been an important connecting points each month. For this was the time of bringing famillies and communities together. Of all the ceremonies, the regular full moon ceremony is probably the most powerful in the building of a community.

ladyhawk: When you attend a circle or ceremony normally there is drumming first. The drumming can get quite involved, this helps to call on the spirits or guides, and helps prepare with the meditative state of the ceremony. The full moon is the time of earthkeeper's celebration. It is a time for a naming ceremony, a wedding or maybe a birthday party. It is a good time to take stock in what has been happening since the last ceremony. What has come to a completion, what has been started, and where are we in this process.

ladyhawk: If we were outdoors all the people would enter through the east like on the medicine wheel. The east door represents the new light of day, the place of all beginnings. When all in attendance had made on complete circle moonwise or counterclock wise the ceremony will begin.

ladyhawk: Is everyone ok so far?

al: yes

Kaneguru: I'm there, ty

sorcey: of, ty

karuna: yes

lila: yes

ladyhawk: We will begin with a prayer to grandmother moon, then we will cleanse our sacred area by smudging. We will all invite our guides/angels/masters/teachers/old ones/ to be at our sides throughout the ceremony. Smuding is a simple powerful, ancient way of clearing your energy field. It can be done with sage,

ladyhawk: lavender, or cedar. You can feel the energy in the room shift from the smoke almost like a clarity has entered.

Dolphin: Hi everyone

Kaneguru: Welcome Dolphin!

ladyhawk: It is done by many cultures all over the world. I always remember to thank the sage for allowing me to use it. We will honor the elements each month . the elements for the moon cycle are.

ladyhawk: earth moon = crystal fire moon = candle water moon = water air moon = feather

ladyhawk: The tools we will use for this ceremony are: one sea shell / it will hold our offering - tonight we offer sage, dried lavender, and cedar to be burnt, a smudge stick, bowl of water, bowl of cornmeal, crystal for the ceremony, the element of the month, medicine blanket .

ladyhawk: Any questions so far..?

karuna: what will the medicine blanket's function be?

ladyhawk: the blanket is like a medicine bundle holds the tools, also is warm

ladyhawk: Good let us begin....

ladyhawk: First, since we are indoors we must set the pace..... for in the ceremony there will be no time, no space..only now, us and the moon . It is now time to enter the circle. The drumming has been going on and you can feel the beats stirring within. Remember enter to the east. Make one full circle moonwise - then stop.

ladyhawk: Now I ask that you to take a few moments to breath , breath in the energy of what is about to take place.Center yourself - Now visualize -- Its twillight and grandfather sun is setting and grandmother moon is emerging.. As they pass each other they silently embrace for only a few seconds then move on.. Tonight we stand together in a meadow, the sky is clear the grandmother is full. You feel the warm air as it caresses your cheeks, letting you know that grandmother has just welcomed you. Smell the sweet wetness of the grass at your feet. Feel your heart beat to the rythmn of the drums let yourself sway with the tempo.

ladyhawk: Hear the limbs of the trees creek as they move with the wind - they also have come tonight to bid welcome to the grandmother moon. While I sprinkle Sage and sweetgrass around the circle if you feel like singing to grandmother feel free, or drum on your desks or what ever.............Bless this circle tonight earth mother. Protect all that are here. As I sprinkle this, I ask the mother to accept this gift - as thank you for allowing us to use her lands for this ceremony tonight.
