I have recently started riding my 4 year old gelding Monty. He is normally a very pleasant boy but sometimes gets very grumpy during his mounted work - which by the way is very light. Can you help me understand why this happens? Thank you!
Lorrie
Lorrie,
Wow he's gorgeous! He's showing me he may have twisted his back a little and even though his work is light I feel he is in a little discomfort and is behaving that way to alert you to the fact that it needs addressing. I think he's either slipped or just jarred it fooling around! Perhaps you have a good equine physio near you or perhaps cranio-sacral or Bowen Therapy? Hope that helps.
Best wishes,

Response from Lorrie: Thanks Madeleine. I appreciate your thoughts! I actually have an equine chiropractor coming to evaluate him in a few weeks.
