Making the Plantain Poultice
Scraping Torn Edges
(c) Phylameana lila Desy
While holding the torn leaves together between your fingers scratch vigorously at the torn edges with your fingernails to force the green pulp and juice to leak out. Alternately, the leaves can be chewed in the mouth and spit out, mixing saliva with the plant material makes a moister application. Or the leaves could be boiled in water and placed on cotton bandages and then applied to wounds as a compress.
