Here is a monthly rundown of a few of the highlights of information that was published here throughout the year. The list includes new initiatives, reader challenges, new reports, newsworthy articles, blogs... and more notable items.

Focus Fridays - A second weekly edition to my newsletter "Healing Matters" that is delivered each Tuesday morning was added in 2011. The very first Friday Focus edition was delivered before the new year rang in on December 31 2010. In 2011 fifty Friday editions were sent out to my subscribers. I plan to continue sending out Focus Friday editions in 2012 and am mulling about the idea of a Saturday Share edition that will reader submitted content... subscribe to my newsletter

Reiki Stew Pot - In January 2011 writings from my book, The Everything Reiki Book was quoted in a stewing blog post published by Lighthouse Trails supposedly as evidence that Reiki is dangerous for Christians to dabble with. Oh, yes, Reiki continues to be a controversial subject in 2011. You can read my response I gave at the time. Also, my Reiki book is now available in an updated edition as of December 2011 with a new title (The Everything Guide to Reiki) which includes a new chapter "Caregiving and Reiki" that details the Catholic Bishops' Stance on Reiki, Reiki usage among the clergy, and Reiki for Christians.

2011 Readers' Choice Awards - Beginning in February 2011 readers were invited to submit nominations and cast votes for a variety of holistic healing categories. Winners were announced on March 15, 2011. In a few short weeks I will be gearing up for new nominations for the 2012 awards... get ready to nominate your favorites and start up your voting campaigns.

Earthquakes and Tsunami in Japan - Anandra George, Ask An Intuitive Life Coach Columnist, was in Tokyo in March 2011 when Japan was devastated with earthquakes and horrific tsunami... in response to her clients asking for help during this crisis Anandra blogged about her personal experiences while in Japan, and also wrote the article Response to Disaster Checklist

Rare Birth of White Buffalo - Lightning Medicine Cloud was born on May 12, 2011.

Birth of Granddaughter - In June 2011 my first granddaughter, Ava Marie, was born. In anticipation of her birth I wrote two new Reiki articles: Reiki During Pregnancy and Reiki for Babies and Toddlers.

Healing Doses Blog Round-up - In August 2011 I began posting Weekly Healing Doses, a weekly blog roundup featuring everything new or updated. This helps me keep organized and gives readers a quick review of what has been added to the site. Healing Doses is normally posted on Monday mornings.

Rare Death Attributed to Use of Neti Pot - In August 2011 I reported about a man dying after using contaminated water in his neti pot. A second neti-pot death in December 2011 prompted Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals to issue warnings against using tap water in neti pots. Distilled or previously boiled tap water is recommended.

Infinity ∞ Series - In September 2011 I launched my Chapter 8 Infinity Reviews. What is this all about? These are book reviews based on content written in chapter 8 of healing books I'm reading. This has been a nice change from writing reviews of complete texts.

Worldwide Holistic Day 10.2.2011 - Free healing services were offered by holistic healers to their communities. Worldwide Holistic Day was a grassroots event.

Archangel Series - On October 6, 2011, Eileen Smith, Ask an Angel Columnist, began her series on the Archangels based on reader questions. So far, she has written about Archangel Raguel, Archangels Ariel and Chamuel, Archangel Michael, Archangel Sandaphon and Archangel Metatron

New Healing Art Initiative - In October 2011 I introduced a new reader initiative, Tarot Card Art Project. Artists are invited to create an original art card depiction any of the 22 major arcana from the Tarot. The project has had a slow start, but I hope kick this initiative into high gear in 2012.... calling all artists

Slither is Lost and Found - Also, in October 2011, I experienced a unique animal visitation from a ribbon snake named "Slither." Rose De Dan, Ask an Animal Reiki Shaman Columnist, helped me to better understand interspecies communications when I sought out her advice about the snake that escaped and got loose in our house!

Sweat Lodge Trial Comes to a Close - Sentence was handed down in November 2011 for James Arthur Ray, who escaped conviction for manslaughter but was given two years for negligent homicide convictions for each of three sweat lodge participants who died (James Shore, Kirby Brown, and Liz Neuman). Review key events of this tragic event.

Winter Solstice - Winter Solstice was celebrated on December 22, 2011. In celebration I selected a beautiful Winter Solstice art image created by Alice PopKorn to be featured as my Healing Photo of the Week in honor of this healing holiday for our planet.

May healing opportunities be plentiful for 2012. Blessings to all for the upcoming year.
