Wiggling your toes is a simple, yet effective grounding exercise that can help you become more aware of your body. Some people tend to focus too much on lofty ideas or are often absorbed in mental activities. For them, a simple exercise, such as wiggling their toes or making circular motions with the ankles can help draw their attention downwards and help get them out of their heads.

Also, anyone who is "painfully" aware of their physical bodies because they are experiencing hurts can be helped by refocusing their attention away from the hurts. Switching your attention away from a headache, a tummy ache, or whatever, and focusing instead on your feet can help decrease the pain intensity on other areas of the body.
