Q. How do I get rid of my chronic prostatitis?

From Christopher Stewart

Full Question: How do I get rid of my chronic prostatitis? The doctors can't find any bacterial infection. Thank you.

C.T., Male, age 50
A. Dear C.T.,

Your symptoms of an inflamed prostate, painful urination etc. are certainly those of chronic prostatitis. Many people with this illness do not show any bacterial infection, so the antibiotics that are usually given have no real effect.

In many ways your chronic prostatitis is like an auto-immune disorder such as rheumatism. A group of standardized extracts of the plants listed below I feel would be helpful to you. The dosage listed is for 1 day and I would advise dividing the dosages and having them with meals.

  • Phytosterol complex (45% beta-sitosterol) - 325 mg
  • Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) extract (fruit) - 300mg
  • Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica) extract (root) - 300 mg
  • Pygeum (Prunus africanum) extract (bark) - 100 mg
  • Lycopene - 15 mg
Also try using some D-mannose. 1 teaspoon in a glass of water 3x per day. D-mannose is a simple sugar which is a close relative of glucose. This is a preventative for future urinary tract problems.

Be Well,
