Full Question: My doctor wants me to take Lupron for 3 months to reduce the size of my large uterine fibroids and then have either surgery or MRgFUS, I am afraid to take Lupron due to all of the side effects. Is there something else that I can take that is not as toxic? Or is there something that I can take to counteract the negative effects of the Lupron? Thank you!!!

A. Before you go the route of using Lupron or having surgery, I would recommend 2-3 cycles of progesterone cream. There are many brands available two that I like are HerBalance and ProGest.

Also increase your consumption of tomatoes (fresh, canned, dried etc). The substance lycopene has been shown to inhibit the growth of fibroids. 30 mg per day in supplement form is also a good idea.
