Most Talked About Holistic Healing Blogs

By , About.com Guide

See More About:
I really enjoy getting feedback and comments in response to my blog posts. Although, sometimes I'm surprised when certain topics get more attention than others. I'm just happy that people are reading my blog, and that my words or opinions provoke readers enough for them to take the time to lend another voice. Listed here are some of the most talked about blog entries. Cool, that readers are willing to share their input!

How to Write An Affirmation

In this blog post I give a quick lesson on how to write an affirmation and also invite readers to practice writing affirmations. Every time someone posts a new affirmation I revisit the blog myself and re-read all the previous affirming comments. It just makes me feel good.

Fly Away With Me

Dreaming, and dreaming about flying in particular apparently is fairly common. In this blog post I write about various meanings that have been attributed to our astral flights. I also introduced a poll asking readers -What types of flying dreams do you have?- One reader shared that she never has flying dreams, only recurring falling dreams. That sparked another blog post, this time about falling in your dreams AND a second poll -What types of flying dreams do you have?-

Healing and Mom's Button Jar

I talk about the connect between sewing and healing in this blog post, along with some special memories of my mother teaching me how to thread a needle and sew my first stitches. My fond memories stirred similar memories for readers who took the opportunity to share their own healing stories related to sewing.

What Type of Smells Bother You?

In this blog post I wrote about a subject which I revisit from time to time because it is a topic that readers have voiced strong feelings about, sensitivity to offensive odors and toxic chemicals. I also included a poll -What types of smells bother you?- At the prompting of a reader I created a reverse poll the following week -What types of smells do you love? Fun!

Sedona Sweat Lodge Tragedy

Lots of my readers are following the unfolding events as they come to light as a result of a sweat lodge ceremony that went terribly wrong. Many of my readers have asked me to continue keeping them informed on any new developments on this story. So, of course I will continue to report updates regarding the Arizona sweat lodge tragedy that occurred in October as soon as I know about them. Naturally, readers are chiming in with their opinions on this one.

Be My Seer

This blog was a favorite of readers from my Wordless Wednesday postings. I featured a photo of the inside of my tea cup inviting everyone to share any insights they might be able to divine from the residue leaf markings. It was a fun to do. Thanks to everyone who participate!

Healing Vibrations of Cat Purrs

In this blog I wrote about researchers interested cats as healers, specifically in connection with purring. Readers share stories and the recuperative powers and emotional support that they have received from their cat companions.

Birthmark Superstitions

This is an older blog post in which I wrote about clipping an article from a magazine in the 70s about birthmarks. It was a cute poem that gave superstitious meanings for various locations of moles or birthmarks on the body. I actually framed the poem and hung it in my bathroom as a conversation piece, but have since misplaced it. Readers have been sharing information about the markings on their bodies with me ever since.

Could the White House Use a Good Smudging?

The day after the Presidential Inauguration January 2009 I wrote a blog entry entitled "Could the White House Use a Good Smudging?" suggesting that it can be beneficial to give living spaces a good sage smudging before moving in. As a result I became the target of some name calling. I was called "insane" "quack" "nut job" "witch doctor" and a few worse things I just as soon not mention. Oh my! I was surprised by all the nastiness that was spewed at me. But, I'm a big girl and can take the heat. I didn't know smudging was so controversial. In a follow-up blog post -I Heart my Newsletter Subscribers!- I shared some of the many loving emails I received from readers who came to my defense.

Reiki Symbols: Secret or Sacred?

(c) Phylameana lila Desy
In this blog post I shared my reasons for publishing Reiki symbols on the site. It was actually a "chewing out" from a reader that prompted me to jump off my indecisive non-stance on the subject of sharing symbols outside of the Reiki community. Welp, I got chewed out some more, but I also had readers championing my decision. Another blog post -Lifelong Christian Questions Reiki- also has readers sharing different positions.

Swapping and Donating Books

This is an older blog post that caught the interest of readers. I wrote about my love of reading, but my primary purpose for writing the blog was that I really needed to give away some of my books because I was feeling overwhelmed with so many of them. I asked readers -What do you do with your used books? Readers really came through with some great answers.
