Why Were Angels Singing to Me?

Eileen Smith Anglin, former Ask An Angel Intuitive columnist, previously responded to a reader question about the sounds from a choir of angels that awoke her. Chrissie wanted confirmation that she had actually heard angels singing. She also wanted to know if the angels had a message for her. Eileen confirmed that it was indeed the angels she had heard and also shared information about understanding clairaudience (intuitive hearing).

I was thrilled to see this question asked and answered because I personally experienced a rare opportunity of hearing the angels sing. I will never forget the unworldly music/song. It was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard before and since. The melodic sounds lured me to climb out of bed in the early morning around 3 a.m. I was compelled to walk about my home to seek out the source of what I was hearing . At first I thought the television had been left on, but no. Then I looked outdoors to see if a car might be parked in the alley with its radio blaring... but no. Eventually I sat down in my dark living room and simply listened to my private concert. Afterwards I turned on a lamp, grabbed a pen and notebook and began channeling messages from the angels via an automatic writing session. And, wow, did the angels ever have a lot to say!

I Will Never Forget - I was in the hospital in Kentucky at age 20 before it happened. The nurses drew my blood for testing and as expected I blacked out. I was surprisingly aware of my surroundings and found myself floating in darkness. I was moving also but it seemed I was going nowhere. That is when I heard a beautiful high pitched chorus of something. It sounded so gorgeous I new it was the angels. I woke up to my mother yelling hysterically in the hallway "SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!" only to find out I had some sort of seizure and coded on the bed. The nurse said my heart stopped beating and I was dead for 30 seconds and they were going to use the difibulater on me but I came back on my own. But I thought back to what I heard during that time and It was something I will never forget. ~Breanna Switzer

Heal - Over the last few years or so, I would try to sleep and then I would think I would be awake because I could see the room I was in but I couldn't move, couldn't speak, and all I could hear would be electrical currents from no apparent source that would eventually turn into deafening screeches. I couldn't wake up either so I had to endure it till I did wake up. This would happen near every night. I do try to meditate and I heard that this is symptoms of nearing Astral Projection but I am not sure. Anyway, just today before work I was taking a nap and again thinking I was awake because I could see the room. The electrical sounds grew louder and as I was preparing for the deafening screeching, it stopped and what replaced the screeching was the sound of a full blown choir. I felt at ease, was able to move my head and was completely calm. It sounded so beautiful, I wanted to cry. They only sang one word though, HEAL, almost like they were telling me what to do. Then I brought my attention to the bedroom door and there was a glowing heart that appeared, it was purple with a green outline and had brilliant green light rays coming off of it and it lit up the whole room as the choir grew louder still only saying "Heal." I felt completely energized and totally upbeat. ~James

Angelic Music - This week I have heard what I can only describe as angelic music. I was lying in bed in the morning (you know when you wake before your alarm and just lie there in a lovely relaxed state) and became aware that I could hear (getting louder) the most beautiful, yet difficult to describe, music. It sounded like layers of incredible harmony, yet simple at the same time. Sounds in the music were purer than chimes and panpipes (these are the closest instruments I can relate the music to). I'm not musical so this was even more incredible to me. I could actually hear it, and there is no way I could imagine music so amazing. It only lasted a few minutes but I feel very blessed. I don't attend church but have always felt deeply loved by God, who I think of as father, all loving and all forgiving. He and the angels must be truly divine, as I've been no goody-two-shoes in my life. If I can hear this music then we all can. ~awaken

Woke to the Sound of Angels Singing

Angels Singing Woke Me Up at 4:44 - I was awakened to an angelic choir singing. It was unlike anything I have ever heard. It was one continuous note sang by many in beautiful unison. I heard it as clearly as you would hear the TV or your bedside alarm. It was loud enough to make me sit up it bed and wonder what it was. As soon as I sat up it was gone. It lasted for maybe 4 seconds. I looked at the clock and it was 4:44 am. I don't know what this means and I would also like to know it anyone else heard this at the same time I did around the world. ~Tiffany Cook

Beautiful Angel Music - Almost 25 years ago my husband and I were sleeping when we both woke in the morning to the most beautiful, harmonious angelic music. It seemed to vibrate inside of us and I don't recall if there were words or just beautiful harmonies but I'll never forget that brief glimpse into what heaven must be like! It was amazing that he heard the exact same thing and grateful that we got to share this experience with each other. Seamless Perfection - I have woke up many times to hearing beautiful choral singing and heavenly ethereal music. With the singing, sometimes it's male voices, other times female. It can be in chorus or just one singing, but I hear it for that few seconds in that window when you're not fully in gear with the vehicle which is our body. One time I heard a chorus of praise where I heard the echoes like singing in a church. The singing and music leaves me with the certain feeling it is all an eternal praise of God. The music is atmospheric, joyful and has no repetition, but seamless perfection and ever changing newness. ~Barale

Angel Singing Dream - While I was asleep I heard a beautiful angelic voice with few musical instruments playing in the background harmonious and soothingly. I heard for few seconds, fell asleep, woke up again to recapture the very same peaceful music. I am positive it was an angelic hymn. A sweet treat from wherever to heal the heart, which is much needed, I know that I am not anyone who is particularly special. All living and non living things are capable of this experience. ~Gayaredtulip

Great Is Thy Faithfulness - During June of 2010, my daughter awoke from sleep at 6:00 A.M. to the music of an angel with a perfect soprano voice singing the hymn, Great Is Thy Faithfulness. The angel sang every verse perfectly, and other verses she had never heard before. The angel emphasized the praise, "...strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow," which we took as words of assurance from God, as the next day I was to have difficult heart surgery. God sent a message of hope during a very difficult and painful time! Praise His holy name! ! ~John Anderson

Physical to Spiritual Transitions

The Rapture - My father was buried the day I heard the most beautiful voice sing a chorus. Next from my toes to my head I felt the Holy Spirit's love peace tranquility. It was awesome. I had asked my father for a sign that he made the pearly gates. I received it loud and clear from an Angel ! It changed how I now view life and death. Feel so very blessed. ~N. D. Casaus

Magical - My mother passed over before I got to the hospital. On my arrival she was moved to a side room where family and friends gather to cry, sing, and to say good-bye. I waited to speak ti her in my own way. I said that her life on this earth is done and she should greet the Angels for me. Me and my mother were not close before she became ill, but, we seem to have reconciled (without words), whilst I visited her in hospital. In the early hours I was awoken by what appeared to be a thunderstorm and birds outside, a commotion at the window like a bolt of lightening then the birds were in the room tweeting and at the foot of my bed I distinctly heard a harp playing, followed by a trumpet, then a choir of Angels chanting and humming what I can only describe as magic. In my mind's eye I could see my mother suspended in the middle of an arch with singing angel on either side. It lasted about 20 minutes. ~Empress

Ave Maria - My partner was at a Hospice house dying of cancer and I had went to my car when out of nowhere through my cell phone a female choir of voices was singing I believe Ave Maria (hail mary) out of nowhere, over and over in Latin. I have no music anything on my phone and I could not make it stop! Days earlier a friend had read The Chaplet of Divine Mercy at the bedside he passed shortly after the music was heard (witnessed) i learned later. Ave Maria is associated with mercy and the hour of death. I believe what I heard (and was witnessed) was angels singing. ~masnoke

Hospice - My mother passed away 5 years ago. I had left the hospice and went home to try and get some sleep, then I heard like a choir of angels singing, it was about 4:30 am. I got up and looked out the window but could not see anything. ~Mary Obrien

Choir of Angels - For several weeks and for several hours each night very late, I heard a heavenly choir of male and female voices. Since I am elderly, I thought the angels were coming for me. My son, who had received a kidney/pancreas transplant 12 years ago, lived with me; but I didn't say anything to him because I didn't want to alarm him. He had been having radical heartbeat for several weeks and was waiting for the doctor to call to schedule an appointment - they thought his anti-rejection medication needed adjusting as it often did. We were not aware that a blood clot had broken free from a deep vein in his leg and was slowly moving toward his heart. The night he passed away, the angels stopped singing - I never heard them again. He was such a good man. I believe they came to take him to Heaven. ~Ann Miller

Angels Singing - It started a couple of weeks ago about two and a half months after my mother passed. At first what I could hear was beautiful string music playing behind my titnus. Then last week I hear a chorus accompanying the strings. It is the most peaceful and warming sounds. I give gratitude for it each and every day. I can hear it when I sit in silence with or without my hearing aids on. I know it is a gift from God. He is giving me love and reminding me to love myself for then I can project that to the world same as what I saw as my mom was dying. She radiated love during her last week on earth. Her spiritual energy for lack of a better description was a gift given to me for three days and shared with others. You would not believe me if I told you what I and others saw and heard. Heavenly Song - My mom had just passed from pancreatic cancer. She had died in my arms and after her body had been taken away by the EMT's I was slowly absorbing all that had just happened. Upon her passing a lot of friends and relatives were there to bid their farewells and love for her. Music was played as a comfort from a cd that the hospice worker had brought. As I was removing the sheets from her hospital bed the most beautiful music I ever heard began playing. At first I thought the CD player was still on but this music came from everywhere. I could distinctly hear two woman singing with a chorus singing behind their voices. As the song got a bit louder I recognized it as Nearer My God to Thee. I do not remember when the music stopped because somehow I had gone to bed in such peace. The next day I looked up the words to this song... the amazing thing was that the words fit my moms passing perfectly. The words say... the angels come to your side and take you from your pain and to the side of God! ~Betsey

Answer to Prayer

Finding My Way - prayed for the first time in over ten years recently, I opened my heart and asked for forgiveness and I felt the Lord's presence. The next day I went to work and kept hearing a beautiful melody in my mind. By the end of the day I could hear a choir of a thousand voices singing in unison Hear our voice, hear our prayer. I cried because they were so beautiful. I even turned on the television because I thought maybe it was just me and they started again but with more volume and intensity it drowned out the tv! Singing That Made Me Feel Safe - One night I thought I was having a bad dream but felt real. I remember seeing a figure but it was a pleasant one. I was afraid and no longer felt like I was fully asleep. I started praying ask the lord to keep me safe and send me angels to protect me. In moment later the eerie figure was gone but I still was afraid. I started to see white and heard high pitch singing that was beautiful. At the moment I thought it was so beautiful I thought I was dying and asked the lord if it was my time because of it. I suddenly just heard the sound and feel right back to sleep. Angels in Byron Bay - I was very sick and praying for help; I thought my time was up and then I heard this beautiful singing like a choir of ladies. Their singing was very soothing and reassuring but there were no lyrics, just beautiful vocals like a choir. Hundreds of Angels Singing - I was at church on a Sunday and had went up to the altar to pray for the Lord to take my idols from me. At the end of my prayer I heard what sounded like hundreds of angels singing or praying. I will never forget the sound, it was so perfect. ~Daniel

Angels Faintly Singing - I was lying in my room awake and I always pray every night. No exceptions I pray for family, friends, and angels to watch over us. So I've heard stories about angels singing and I've had some out of body experiences that have really enlightened me. I've noticed people have taken a more liking to me and I especially see it in animals. It's like I've been enlightened so anyways since I'm very open to all this I'm lying there trying to have an O.B.E and was meditating so I'm getting deeper into it and I hear the most heavily voices. I know I wasn't thinking it up because it was the most random beautiful noise I've ever heard and I've been hearing them now and again since. The trick to doing this is tell God how much you love him and appreciate life and then lie in a completely quiet room and use clairvoyance which is seeing or hearing something out of the ordinary with ability. Hear the Angels Daily - I hear them daily especially at around 2 to 4 am and I also receive feathers weekly. I thought the feathers were from my mom who passed away a year ago as I made a pact with her that if I was sad she would send me a feather. ~Guest Ingrid

Hearing Angels Singing to Me - How blessed I feel as angels sing to me often. It began when I learned chords on my keyboard. I consider this a gift from God to me. I play piano and often they sing along as I play. I sense my sister who died at 59 years old is with them as I hear her voice singing with them. Mother left us when we were 3 and she was 5 years old and she became my mother and always looked after me on earth. Now I feel she is looking after me from heaven. At first I thought a radio was playing but learned it was only in my mind I heard them. Once when I as visiting a cousin and the angels were really singing loudly to me and he remarked where is that singing coming from? He heard them I do believe. No One Else Heard My Angels - When I was a child I in elementary school I heard a chorus singing. I ran to the big window and looked out but didn't see anything. I didn't know about angels at that time, but it was a beautiful harmony. I know now they were my angels, no one else heard it. I also hear my name being called at times. ~rhona gorman

Age Seven - I shared a room with my younger sister. One night I was awoken to what seemed to be beautiful harmonious singing. I recall so clearly sitting up on my bed and looking out my window to see the sky totally lit up and a myriad of Angels descending. I remember staring at them in awe. It was such a peaceful feeling that amazingly after several minutes, I laid back down and went to sleep. I have never forgotten this experience. I am now 41 years old but it is so vivid in my head what I saw that night. ~Bam

My Daughter and I Hear Singing - My daughter was playing quietly in the den. I was picking up her room and putting away clothes. No media was on and the house was quiet as we were both involved in our tasks. Beautifully a voice or voices filled the house sounding like, "ahhhhh ahhhhh ahhhh." It was perfectly pitched and so soothing I may have just kept at my organization of my daughters clothing had I not heard my daughter sing in her childlike, 4 year old voice trying to match the beauty of the song. I smiled in realization and walked to my daughter. We were both smiling. I asked her if she had heard something and she said, "Yes, I think it was an angel." ~Michelle

Choir of Angels Sing on Easter Morning - I was about 11 yrs old and heard music. I looked for the source all over the house and finally I made my way outside. I looked towards the sky and noticed a huge cloud. I saw angels singing a beautiful song. I listened for a moment and then I ran in the house to tell my family. They could not hear it. Little Crying Angels - When I was four years old, my mom told me to go take a nap. I was very disappointed, as I ran into the bedroom and began crying. I knelt down on my knees facing the window, folded my hands, and prayed one of the most full hearted prayers I have ever spoke, saying "LORD, I don't want to take a nap, please don't make me take a nap." I sat there in silence then, bawling my eyes out for what seemed to be a very long time. Then suddenly, a millions of angels burst out in song, the clearest most beautiful voices I have ever heard- indescribable- full of joy, and love, crystal clear and higher then any voice could have ever sung. I was enveloped in holy presence, all time seemed to stop. It could have been minutes, seconds, even hours really, but it didn't matter. I was so young, yet knew exactly what I was blessed to hear. Heavenly Host- My cousin and I were walking about through the woods a day or so after Christmas. We were sent to tell my father he had a minister visitor since the home phone of the place he was visiting was busy. Although it was night, we walked slowly and unafraid. These were the same woods we played in during the daytime. Halfway through the woods the sky was full of the most beautiful music--the voices over our head were everywhere. Words cannot describe what we heard. There were no houses, just the trees and path beaten down by the feet of youngsters. My cousin looked at me and I at her before we began to run fast out of the woods. We were 9 years old and I never said a word until I was 30ish. I told my mother about the beautiful music and she said to me, "Child, you heard the heavenly host." We heard the music in the 1950s and I heard it briefly around the mid sixties when walking alone at night from my job. I always wonder why we heard the music. Healing Sound of Angelic Songs

Angels Singing in the Background - When I was at my worst suffering a few months ago I heard Angels singing in the distant background noise beyond the normal suburban noise. They were not singing words but a beautiful melody that calmed me. I'll never forget the experience. ~Bradley Peterson

Army of Angels - Many times throughout my life I have heard phantom sounds. I even had a few nights in a row a few years back where I was exhausted and I would suddenly hear a beautiful flute that sounded almost Native American. It was very soothing. I also have had dreams involving angels or visiting beautiful places. Just recently though, I had a dream that a dark entity was scaring my children. I walked into their rooms and instinctively started to sing. But every time I opened my mouth I would hear not only my own voice but a choir of angels! It was so beautiful, mush like the sound of background voices for Enya or Clannad. I felt so strong and safe. We sang not only to heal me and to protect my children but also to heal the darkness. Gentle Rain Sounds - I was awake, laying in bed, the only sounds were gentle rain; I started to hear beautiful singing and choir-like music. It was so beautiful, I'm crying tears of joy just recalling this. ~lynn

Hearing Angelic Music and Singing - Have been hearing the most beautiful angelic music and singing for over 3 years. Is a multitude of voices singing in harmony beautiful music such as Oh Glory Oh Glory. Jesus Christ Jesus Christ. Three Perfect Notes - I had been breast feeding my first child for a few months. It was the middle of the night and I was so tired. He wanted to eat all the time and I thought I would lose my mind for lack of sleep. I needed help but, of course, no one could help because no one could do this for me! Tears in my eyes, I was just about to put him back in his crib when the room got fractionally brighter and warmer. Then I heard a voice sing three notes. I am musically inclined and know for a fact that no one on Earth could sing these notes as perfectly as they were sung! When I try to describe the sound I can't do it justice. But now whenever I am down or lost or just feel like I can't keep going, I remember those perfect three notes and it always serves as a reminder that we are never alone and someone is always watching and helping us just when we think we can't go on. ~Lindsay

My Heavy Heart Was Lifted - 3 years ago I woke around 4am one summers morning, I got out of bed and walked outside with my dogs to let them have a wee. Living in the country we had no neighbours for about a mile so all you'd hear at that time was the birds, but while walking in the garden with the dogs I suddenly heard loud singing as though loud speakers were all around me, it was so intense as beautifully written in 'Three Perfect Notes' in this forum. As it continued for 2 -3 mins I didn't feel frightened, just confused of how it was so? but my normally heavy heart started to feel lifted, I felt so comforted I just wanted to fall to my knees and cry. Since I have searched for others who have heard it too and looked for the singing in recordings, so when I 1st heard this song by Elly Goulding I immediately recognized it in the backing vocals, I was stuck to the floor with the same feelings from that morning. All for the Glory of God - At the time in my life when God brought me back & saved me from killing myself, I carried a lot of pain, hatred & anger in my heart. It was a time when God was healing me and dealing with those past things in my life. So for nearly 2-3 months, every single day in the early hours of the morning, Jesus used to come to heal my heart. So the next morning when I wake up, I wouldn't know where all the pain and anger went, i would only feel total peace and remember that angels were present as well. I was curious and asked the Lord to reveal to me. So this one morning, my soul woke up when Jesus came. He knelt beside my bed & put His pierced Hand into my heart. Behind Him were many angels who were singing praises to Him, I don't remember all they sang but one sentence remains in my heart. They sang 'Whatever happened has happened, all for the glory of God!'. That time, hearing that while watching Jesus smile like I never sinned, was all I needed to know & hear. Reminder to Stop and Listen

Beautiful Voices - I was getting ready for work one morning this week after a hectic morning trying to make school lunches feed the kids breakfast and send them on there way to school. Then it's the mad rush for me "mom" to get ready and go to work. So I hopped in the shower and stood there for a minute only to hear beautiful voices like a choir I had thought it was the water because very doubtful of these encounters. But then it came again and there I stood in awe. And just listened to the beauty of these angles singing to me. It was beautiful! ~Stacy

Ancient Sounds and Foreign Language

Sovereign King - I was at home by myself late in the evening. My husband worked midnights and was already gone to work. I just finished watching a christian movie and was gonna watch another one but decided to read my bible instead. As I opened my bible, I heard music, very faintly music. At first I thought it was coming from the neighbors. Then I thought, they're not close enough. So I listened closely and it was coming from the surround sound stereo sitting on my entertainment center. My television was off and no radio was on anywhere. I could hear thousands of angels singing but in a language I never heard before. It was the most beautiful music I had ever heard in my life even though I couldn't understand what the words were. Then I heard a male voice singing solo but still could not understand the words. A few seconds passed by and I heard the words "sovereign king." I feel so blessed that God has opened my ears to hear His precious angels sing. I would love to hear them again. ~missy

Angel Choir in My Car - I was on my way home from a wonderful healing service at Christian Retreat in Bradenton FL. I was still floating spiritually from the miracles I had seen as many were healed. I was singing worship songs when the car was filled with a Divine Presence and many other voices began to sing with me. I sang in a heavenly, ancient language along with them. The multidimensional sound is indescribable as our words are inadequate to describe the beauty of it. It lasted for about 15 minutes or so. I was engulfed in amazing love and peace. Goosebumps then and now again as I tell the wonderous story!! Our angels and guides are all around us and sometimes we are given the gift of knowing their presence. Angels and Church

Yes I Heard the Angels Singing - About 15 years ago on one night I kept hearing singing and knew it was angels, I was like a deer caught in the headlights, the next day I could hear them and this went on for weeks. When I went for a walk in front of my house, when I would walk by my house I could hear them singing in my home. I had left the front door open and I just stood in the street listening. Later in the week I was outside on a Saturday painting and heard the angels singing a different song, when I went to church that night the exact song played in church. I hardly ever go to church and it was impossible for me to know what song would be played. ~Sherry

The Choir of Angels - When I was engaged to be married my fiancée and I went away for the weekend for "engaged encounter,"which was a preparation for our marriage vows and life together. My dog has passed away recently and my fiancee and I were alone in a small chapel late at night. I asked if he thought animals go to heaven. Then I got up to leave, looked at the cross and said out loud, "What about Noah's Ark?" We retired to our separate quarters of the Monastery. There were no televisions to watch and I was a little anxious sleeping, so I picked up the bible next to me and closed my eyes asking God to lead me to the right words of comfort. I was to look on the right side, bottom of the page and opened bible to: "...and the Lord said, "Noah build an Ark!" I felt the presence of God with me, yet I was still nervous. At 5am that morning I woke up to a sound of the most beautiful choir! The harmony was beyond the depths I've ever heard. I was told later by the priests, I was visited by the angels. ~Elizabeth

Angels Singing "Oh Father" - I particularly remember this time well. It was 02/02/10 at 0530hrs (I documented the date and time so I would not forget the times). I heard Angels singing in a dream "Oh Father we lift up our prayers', while they were singing I was praising the Lord saying over and over again, 'Oh Father Lord of Lord and King of Kings, Father of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Angels singing in the background, their voices sounded like a fine metalic low/high tone echo, it was beautiful and in harmony.
