Question: How do I search for myself when I don't know where to start?
Answer: Dear Rachel,

Having the intention to look within yourself and touch the very nature of your being is a wonderful place to start. You have a deep need to know who you are before you are able to be at peace with your life choices. Once you have your intention set, spend time listening to your intuition and pay attention to synchronicities that take place in your life. These synchronicities are messages from the universe that lead you in the right direction, guiding you to experiences, people, books, etc that will help you in your quest to find your inner self.

Also, sit down and make a list with three columns. In the first column, list the beliefs, traits and fears that you have that you know do not serve your highest well being. In the second column, list the people from your life that may be the original source of those beliefs and fears. Acknowledge that these particular beliefs and fears may not stem from you. As we grow, learn and evolve throughout childhood, we adapt to our surroundings by merging with it. At times, the emotions, energetic patterns, and beliefs that we merge with withhold us from truly knowing what our own feelings and beliefs are, separate from our parents, etc. For you, Rachel., you carry a legacy of family patterning that does not need to continue on within you. Therefore, in the third column, write the positive statement of truth that comes from your own intuition and thoughts that belong only to you. You will see a great difference between column one and column three.

When the list feels complete, tear off the third column and put it in a sacred place. Refer to these truths of your inner being often and affirm that it is who you are. Take the first and second column outside and burn them (safely in a coffee can, a fireplace, etc). As you watch the paper go up in smoke, acknowledge that you are releasing all that you had merged with in the past. Feel yourself being free of those energies. Know that you are sending these energies out to the universe, as they no longer need to reside within you.

Each time you do this exercise, you free the layers that your inner self resides under. It is said that our inner journey is like peeling layers of an onion. We have many layers to peel back in order to eventually arrive at the most potent part of ourselves, the core of our being. Just remember that this process is a journey without a specific destination. You will experience deeper and deeper parts of yourself as you progress along the path.

Many Blessings,
Jaelin
