| TheDreamDoctor | Does anyone have a particular item - about women's dreams - that they wish to talk about? |
| Stones77 | we would like to thank everyone for coming tonight. and a very warm welcome for Charles McPhee. |
| TheDreamDoctor | It's good to be here.. |
| kiszingafool | Welcome Charles McPhee |
| ladyhawk | ;) |
| Crystal | What does it mean when you are searching for something in a dream and you are walking up and down stairs and corridors - but you don't know what you are looking for? |
| Crystal | I've also been on a ship when this has happened |
| ............................ lila joined............. | |
| TheDreamDoctor | Searching in dreams, not surprisingly, is a metaphor for searching in real life - and perhaps feeling uncertain of which direction to go in or to head. Do you recall the feelings attached to the dream? |
| Crystal | I was anxious to find what I was looking for |
| TheDreamDoctor | Stairs also can relate to career issues - trying to climb to the next level. |
| TheDreamDoctor | When did you have this dream, Crystal. Was it recent? |
| Crystal | I have no career at the moment - lol |
| Crystal | Yes it was recently - I am trying to do dream analysis and have a pen and paper handy for the morning to write it down |
| Crystal | I also have my handy dandy dream dictionary - but have a hard time making connections |
| TheDreamDoctor | Being uncertain, and anxious, about your career could definitely be the cause of the dream. Is your career on your mind? |
| Crystal | I have had quite a few dreams about searching lately |
| TheDreamDoctor | What is going on in your waking life? Dreams are reflections of our thoughts feelings and awarenesses |
| Crystal | Like I said I don't have a career at the moment but I am trying to figure out what to do with my life right now |
| TheDreamDoctor | and they also are located close to us in time |
| TheDreamDoctor | That is, a dream that you have tonight most likely is related to feelings or concerns that have been on your mind in the past few days, |
| TheDreamDoctor | so it always helps to think locally about a dream. What has been occurring in the last day or two that I feel is related to this dream. |
| Crystal | I'm also hoping it is the higher self giving you directions |
| TheDreamDoctor | I think, Crystal, that if you are searching for what to do with your life, this likely explains your dream. |
| Crystal | I have been attuned in Reiki Level One and I'm trying to decide about Level II |
| TheDreamDoctor | Dreams are funny about "showing us the way." |
| lila | May I interrupt a minute |
| Crystal | It's only recently that I have started to pay more attention to them :) |
| Crystal | Of course :) |
| TheDreamDoctor | More often than showing us the way - they show us where we are. It is almost as if our free will is thrust back upon us. The dream is instructing us that we are the ones who really are able to design and create our futures. |
| TheDreamDoctor | Please go ahead, Lila! |
| lila | Since I arrived late - I would like to know if the Doctor has given himself a proper introduction ? |
| TheDreamDoctor | No, perhaps not. |
| Crystal | Thank you Dream Doctor |
| TheDreamDoctor | What can I tell people about myself?? |
| ............................ Crystal left............. | |
| Lydea | your training in dream analysis |
| lila | I'd like it if you would DD - a brief sentence or two about yourself - and also the topics you would like to discuss - your training perhaps? |
| TheDreamDoctor | Good question. My training is largely through working in hospitals with sleep research, research on REM sleep and manic Depressive illness at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MA, and later I worked in Los Angeles treating sleep disorders |
| TheDreamDoctor | This has given a clinical background to my dream interpretation work, which I have found very helpful, as many dream experiences are sleep disorders in disguise - for example - sleep paralysis. |
| lila | dream paralysis is very interesting |
| TheDreamDoctor | I wrote a book called Syop Sleeping Through Your Dreams in 1995 about lucid dreaming, and since then I have created the Ask the Dream Doctor website - which actually has been one of my greatest education - just to read tens and tens of thousands of dreams. |
| Lydea | Lucid dreaming is also interesting |
