WhorsewHOST

do you make them shower once it is complete?

Curandero

no usually a tepid bath., you don't want folks stand up too long.

WhorsewHOST

k

jungleweed

You will pick the hrbs depending on the illness?

Curandero

and you must increase fluid intake during this.

lila

how much is your laundry bill curandero?.......lol

Sapphire2

would this be similar to doing a sweat when one is ill?

Curandero

yes weed.....

Curandero

in a way yes.....but a wrap can be controlled easier.

lila

*visualizing piles of soggy sheets*

Curandero

that's it lila, ten sheets easy

jungleweed

next day is wash day lila Lol

WhorsewHOST

do you do medicine songs or chants at this time also?

Curandero

that night is wash night

Curandero

No.....I chant and sing usually during a pipe ceremony.

Lydea

so can a Curandero help you with your health issues?

Curandero

well, this one aint doing such a hot job LOL

Curandero

The problem Lydea is this.....
I am literally the last person to practice this form of curanderismo

nm

hispanic herbalism and native american herbalism have alot of simularities

Curandero

yes they do, check out my classes someday.

Lydea

So there are no healers who could help you then?

Curandero

None in the area.

jungleweed

there are still curanderos at my homeland ...

Curandero

excellent weed!

WhorsewHOST

there is one yaqui curandera named dona tonia somewhere in mexico

Curandero

I can't even get to San Jose. lol

Lydea

uhhh what about another type of healer............?

lila

how about your students curandero - can they help you?

Curandero

I go to an excellent accupunturist.

Curandero

My students have kept me alive more than once......bless em.

nm

you mentioned you are trying to keep things in the traditional way will you pass on this gift of healing and knowledge to you daughter

Curandero

It may well be that my tumors are something I must control....and not heal.

jungleweed

I now a mental healer who heals in chat sesions

Lydea

yes I understand Curandero

Curandero

well....she has the gift already.....I will pass on the skills when she decides to take them.

lila

our healing journeys are not always about complete recovery

Curandero

exactly lila

Curandero

Christians tell me that Jesus will cure me.
I say.....What if HE don't want to?then I'm really screwed!

Lydea

better not to find out eh?

WhorsewHOST

do you believe that your job as a healer is to assist others in re-aligning themselves with there true destiny

Curandero

wow!!!!! good question.
No....I don't. I think I am here only to heal. If they find a true path in conjuntion with it....so be it.

WhorsewHOST

ty

Curandero

A curandero/curandera must never become cocky.

WhorsewHOST

:-)

Curandero

I'm like Bones on Star Trek....just an ol country doctor.

Love2U

Oh, I have to leave! :( thank you for a wonderful interesting chat.

............................ Love2U left.............

lila

that is wonderful that you understand that curandero.... we can offer help... but the client has their own reasons for directions they choose

Lydea

and sometimes dis-ease teaches us more than health

Curandero

I get uncomfortable when my students see me as some new Castenada. I am not Carlos. I'm not out to explain the mysterys of the universe.

WhorsewHOST

i have heard the word/term limpia what does it mean

Curandero

the term limpia and barrida are often used together....it means a spiritual cleansing.

WhorsewHOST

is this done in ceremony

Curandero

oh yes.....I did one last week. it involves prayers.....rattles.....a literal sweeping of the body.a symbolic opening of the body.....

WhorsewHOST

is sweeping done with a feather fan?

Curandero

I make a rosemary whisk for each person involved.

WhorsewHOST

ic

Curandero

then dispose of it in running water. San Francisco bay ususally.

Lydea

a rosemary whisk, how is that made?

WhorsewHOST

so you do not capture it and place in bundle to be desposed of

Curandero

it is captured within the rosemary.....

lila

yes... how? I have a rosemary plant

Curandero

rosemary is the herb of remembrance.

WhorsewHOST

same thing different ways maybe

Lydea

me too

Curandero

i make the whisk using equal lengths of branches, 11 to be exact.

lila

just the stems.....?

Curandero

I tie it with yarn I have spun myslef......either wool, silk or cotton. I have long stems on my plant.

WhorsewHOST

this term is what the hispanics that work in area have spoken to me about but i did not understand it.

Curandero

I like to have blossoms on them.

Curandero

ahhh ok..whwh.

............................ jungleweed left.............

Curandero

in a barrida....an egg is used. that is when malevolent influences are suspected. the egg captures the evil and holds it.

Lydea

and if there isn't malevolent influences, you just us the whisk?

WhorsewHOST

so my next questionis this if one came to me wanting this done but i only know my way would it affect the outcome because the one seeking wishes for the other

Curandero

that's it lydea.

I wouldn't do it unless you really knew how.
Use your way. There is a whole way to pick the plant....and tie it etc.

nm

what is done with the egg after the capture

Curandero

The egg is tossed in running water. Or in extreme cases buried in holy ground.

WhorsewHOST

but would it be as effective as what they are culturally used to?

nm

ty

Curandero

I feel it could be as effected if it is was clearly explained to your client.

Lydea

wouldn't it depend on whether the client was open to it or not..............regardless of the method?

Curandero

it would

lila

so it comes back to "intention" on the part of healer and client? the tool used is less important

Curandero

both...yes......the client is often more fearful of the cure than the problem

Lydea

so whw, you could do a bang-up job and the client could not get what they wanted because they stubbornly clung to an idea that it had to be done another way.

Curandero

okay....one more? or so

WhorsewHOST

we would like to thank you curandero for giving us this time today. many thanks for all the information

Curandero

Curandero my pleasure...

Lydea

yes thank you so much

Curandero

happy halloween.....
