Enter-Exit Principle

A free flow of cosmic energy is the essence of peaceful existence

Once Upon a Time... there was a contest between the various parts of the human body to decide which of them performed the most important function. The brain said "I am the greatest because I help the human to think." The heart said "I am the greatest because I help him to live." Not to be left behind, the nervous system, endocrine system, and other organs each expounded their cause and importance. All this while, the excretory system was quietly watching the proceedings. Dryly, it drawled, "I am the greatest because without me you'll will not be able to function." This met with guffaws all around, and the others dared it to prove its claim. "Fine," said the excretory system, and simply stopped functioning. The first day was okay; the second day was...hmmfg...tough; the third day was...aarrrgh...HELL; on the fourth day, the contest was over. All the other organs threw in the towel.

Moral of the Story

The moral of the story is simple: if what goes in is important, what and how much comes out is equally important.

For anything to function smoothly, this constant enter-exit cycle should be maintained. Else, there would be trouble. A free flow of cosmic energy is the essence of peaceful existence. For that to happen, there has to be space - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. And it is our job to create that space.

In fact, this principle can be applied to anything: If a train is packed to capacity, there is no room for more people to board it. They can do so only if some commuters create space by alighting. If an office is overstaffed, there is no vacancy. Moreover, the organisation bears unnecessary expenditure, and requires retrenchment. If we eat, we have to excrete. Life is followed by death... the process goes on.

Since the universe is considered to be an extension of our Self, the same rule applies to everything: our house, relationships, money...

Importance of Discarding Old and Useless Things

Talking of houses, there are those who refuse to discard old things thinking, "they may be useful in the future." These houses will be, generally speaking, messy; the tables and showcases will be full and stuffed with things. There will be small boxes, books, bottles, broken things and what not. Such people are scared to throw away things: "What if they are needed in future?" is the question that forever daunts them. Such houses will have less of energy flowing in it simply because much of the space available is occupied by "unnecessary" things.

Creating a "Light" Space

How do you feel when you dispose of your household garbage, or when you give away old stuff? Do you get a feeling of lightness - as if you have been relieved of some huge weight? That's because you have created "space" for energy to come in.

Allow Your Home to Breathe

The size of a house does not matter. What matters is how it is kept. In fact, you can immediately feel an affinity to a house that is well kept, airy, bright. They all function under the same Enter-Exit principle. If you get something into the house, make sure something leaves it too. The house too needs to breathe, doesn't it?
