Summary: Week Eight - This week has been a challenging one for me in a couple of ways. My first challenge was Halloween night. Having treats in the house was a temptation. I gobbled up four junior-size Snickers bar without batting an eyelash. I only intended to eat one, but I caved. My biggest challenge is having more outlaw foods in the house now. Since my husband has reached his weightloss goals he has pretty much stopped following the SBD guidelines. I can't say that I blame him... he's looking pretty darn skinny now. Because he lost his excess weight so quickly he feels that he can eat whatever he likes whenever he likes. He figures if he notices weight creeping up on him then he'll cut back. Good plan for him, but it's not so good for me to have temptation foods in the house that weren't here before. For example, he brought home bananas. I love bananas. Before starting this diet, I ate a banana everyday. I would eat one by itself, in my cereal or in a fruit-yogurt smoothie. He also prepared a huge portion of clams and linguini for supper one evening along with a whole loaf of garlic bread. How I managed to eat a modest serving of that and only one slice of bread is bewildering to me. Happily, amazingly, I get to report once again those two bugger pounds have disappeared. These two pounds seem to be playing hide-and-seek with me. I'd like to see them gone for good, so maybe this will happen soon.

Summary: Week Nine - This past week has been a fairly uneventful week as far as being met with diet challenges, fewer temptations were lurking about. I've been faithfully staying within the Phase II guidelines with little difficulty. When I first began the SBD nine weeks ago I had hoped to have lost fifteen pounds by my birthday. Well, next week is my birthday. I realize now that it will be impossible for me to drop another 7 pounds within the next six days. Although, I have been fiddling with the idea of going back to Phase I for a week or two just to see if I could drop another 3-4 pounds. But, I'm not sure I want to do that just yet. Besides, I'm feeling pretty okay with my body as it is right now. I don't think a little birthday celebration next week (indulging in cake) will do much harm either. I'll find out soon enough. I hope I won't be experiencing the birthday bloat!

Summary: Week Ten - One year older this week and one pound lighter! Actually, having a birthday in the middle of the week, on a Wednesday, made it a lot easier for me not to overeat like I may have if it had been on the weekend. I don't know why it is, but I do tend to splurge more on calories on Friday and Saturday evenings. I even baked myself a birthday cake, well not actually a cake, but a pan of brownies. I actually ate three brownies, they were very good! I found a fat free brownie mix in the health/diet section at the market I decided to give a try. It was NoPudge Raspberry Fudge Brownie Mix. All you add is two-third cup of vanilla flavored yogurt to the mix, stir, and bake, although I substituted plain yogurt and one tsp. of vanilla extract. There is sugar in the boxed ingredients, but it is natural unbleached cane sugar, the flour is also unbleached. The brownies were really moist and yummy. Try them if you feel like being a wee bit bad. The NoPudge.com website gives detailed nutritional information on their products.
