Out-of-Body (OBE) is a term that describes a period of time when a person's consciousness has drifted from his or her physical body, enabling observation of the world from a non-physical aspect. Out-of-Body is also used (consciously or unconsciously) as an avoidance mechanism to remove a person from becoming too-emotionally involved in a difficult situation.
