Magazine Clutter

Use old powdered laundry detergent boxes to store magazines in. Make sure the box is completely empty (maybe use a blow dryer to get out the excess powder). You can use the box with the top cut off, or this is an even better technique. You can start at the far side of the box, or work your way about one-third of the way toward you. Cut on each side, diagonally and down, so you make your way to what will be the front of the box. There, you can put a label to show you what magazines you are putting in storage. Once you have your slots cut, you can put the magazines in, or even duct tape the cut-out lines. This may prevent paper cuts. You can also put the dates and years on your magazine box labels. Once you get done boxing the magazines, you might even want to put them on bookshelves, or donate them to your local library. But ask them first. You can use this technique for any papers you may have piling up. Remember, the idea is to "reduce, reuse, and recycle."!

So the next time you think about going to a store to buy something, you may not even have to. Maybe you can make it from something you already have!

Note: You could also use the magazine boxes as bookends or for building some other kind of improvisational furniture, especially if you aren't going to be reading the magazines for a while.
