Blueberries - Sweet source of health and energy
Thursday July 13, 2006
My husband and I took a short drive from our home to visit a blueberry farm yesterday afternoon. It was a lot of fun picking blueberries. Now we have a good supply of blueberries to freeze, enough to enjoy until Christmas and maybe longer. It is my habit to put a quarter-to-half cup of berries (blueberries, blackberries, or strawberries) on my breakfast cereal along with a handful of walnuts and a gentle squirt of honey too! Yum! We also make banana and berry smoothies on a regular basis so we will be enjoying our freshly picked blueberries for months to come. After spending a couple of hours picking blueberries in the hot sun I got the brainy idea that it might be fun to grow some blueberries plants in our home garden. We have enough garden space but I wasn't sure if we had the right soil. Turns out we don't. We have too much clay in our soil. But a raised bed might be doable.
