I’m sort of a unsentimental realist, but even I find great benefit in the practice of expressing gratitude for the positive things in one’s life. Maybe it’s just because one is forced to look for them!
When things go wrong, it’s often hard to see that there are still many positive things happening. Stopping to count your blessings can help put things back into perspective.
I’m grateful for my wonderful and healthy family. But today I’m also grateful to be living in a country where democracy rules and people’s votes count. It’s a beautiful thing that we can elect a president to lead us without war or violence or anything more than verbal attacks in TV ads.
I’m very grateful for today! I’m grateful for the hope of an even better tomorrow. So much to be thankful for, with each breath I take.
