The Carnival of Healing is a monthly round-up of personal blog posts on the topics of holistic health, wellness, spirituality, and self empowerment.
A bit of history: The Carnival of Healing was birthed in July 2005. Since then the carnival has pretty much been a weekly feature each Saturday. But, times are a-changing for our holistic healing carnival. You might say that the carnival is going into semi-retirement. Rather than weekly, carnivals will be churned out monthly this year. Carnival hosts will be flooded with many more carnival submissions due to the extended submission period. I imagine the hosts will enjoy the experience of organizing great carnivals since they will likely have 4 times the submissions to review. But this doesn't mean the carnival will be jam-packed with content. My goal for carnival hosts is for them to only feature the "cream of the crop" carnival attractions each month. "Less is More" will be the model for the carnival in 2010. Think quality, not quantity!
January 2010 - Carnival of Healing #221
Since we are embarking on the new calendar year several of the carnival submissions that came my way were focused on inner reflections, diet improvements, new goals and fresh starts. Among these were thoughtful blogs about slimming therapies, brain foods, clearing away and making way for the new year, supporting your spouse's interests, and figuring out your life purpose.
Also worth mentioning are an assortment of seasonal posts focusing on winter-related health issues: depression, healing old wounds, heart health concerns, and boosting your immune functions.
Below are the "stand out" carnival attractions that I have personally chosen for your reading pleasure for this carnival edition. I hope you enjoy them.
- I truly enjoyed Bryant Moore's blog post Spirit of Expectation, which was inspired by a sermon she heard on the air waves. I like the analogy that a baby's cry is a prayer to God/Mom(parent). The post is about having faith and learning patience.
- Dan Stelter blogs an in-depth article entitled Essentials for Human Happiness that helps people to understand what things make people happy. From The Anxiety Support Network.
- Rheanni Lightwater blogs about current astrological influences that will effect pitta dosha personalities in her post Exploring Pitta Energy. She offers five steps to balance your pitta energy. Pitta is one of the three doshas in ayurveda medicine.
- Jeremy Jones shares his and his wife's observations and take-aways after attending a five day lecture hosted by Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential. This program of therapy is designed to improve a brain-injured individual's well being and opportunities for recovery. - Jeremy's blog is a resource for parents of brain-injured children.
- Here is a short and to the point post by Dawneright. She learned you don't need a therapist to do art therapy.
- A few minutes before reading Deathony's post For the Newly Orphaned I was talking on the phone with my parents wishing them a Happy New Year and cannot imagine not being able to pick up the phone and talk to my mom or dad. Deathony advocates for parentless individuals connecting and helping each other. In her blog The Orphan Handbook she writes about dealing with feelings of loneliness and grieving losses.
- I'll end today's carnival edition with a post that teaches us we can find inspiration anywhere. Sacredness is within reach whenever we are willing to open our eyes and see it. Tomar Levine asks Is the Sun Shining at Your Feet?
Looking Back: Last week the Carnival of Healing was hosted by Rosanna C. Rogacion at Meandering Paths to Wellness and Spirituality
Looking Forward: Next edition of the carnival (February) will be hosted by Cari Cambell, at Your Joyous Life
