Getting fired or laid off from your job can be scary. But, if you can step back from the fear, finding yourself unemployed could be just the push needed to allow you to follow your passion. After losing his job, Jack Handshaw, a life-long potter, is carving out a path toward a healing career. He is currently enrolled in an occupational therapy program to earn an associate degree.

It is not unusual for people who have undergone crisis (illness, grief, loss of job, etc.) to discover much later that these critical times in their lives served as catalysts that landed them on a different track. As a result the new direction undertaken improved their lives in someway or helped them to better empathize with mankind in general. Purposeful paths that are created out of experiencing pain and suffering often end up being healing careers.

We all suffer.
We are all healers in some way.
We are always learning new things.
We all have something to teach others.
