Dresen pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault, and was charged with a total of eight counts. Six women clients were reportedly violated between 2003 and 2007. This is a very disturbing story, especially considering he had previously served over three years in jail for a prior rape conviction.
I crossed-out some of the text in my opening sentence in response to comment posted by Barb (click on comments below to read) stating that Dresen did not actually fake his qualifications. My assumption was that Dresen faked his credentials after reading several reports in which he was called a fake and a charlatan. However, if it is true that Dresen attended classes and rightfully earned his certifications then his indecent actions against these women are even more appalling. In my opinion a disreputable healer who disregards standard ethical practices deserves to be called a phony, I don't care how many legitimate certificates he has hanging on his walls.
In the courtroom, the preceding judge cautioned young women not to subject themselves to treatment from anyone unless they had knowledge of their actual qualifications.
This horrible case brings up an important safety issue between healers and clients. Take heed and do not put yourself in a position of potential risk or harm.
Clients need to be careful who to trust when teaming up with a healer. Choose your therapist wisely, do your research, and trust your instincts. If possible, get references from people you respect. Word of mouth from friends, family, and valued work associates about healers who have helped them is a place to start in finding a qualified healer. Also, consider asking your partner or a trusted friend to tag along with you to your first meeting with a new healer for support and personal safety.
Healers and therapists also need to be cautious when accepting new clients. This is especially important for practitioners who treat clients in their homes. I have a home-based practice and do not take risks when it comes to my personal safety. Never -NEVER- meet with a new client when you are at home alone.

Mr Dresen did not fake his qualifications. He studied for 3 years with Qld Intitute of Natural Science after which he received a Diploma of Remedial Massage. He also has a Diploma for Lymphatic Massage & other modalities (I am not going to list all of them). The only qualifications this particular judge will accept are those from a Tertiary Level at a public university, So that means that he does not accept that any Naturopath, Acupuncturist, etc. is qualified. He would not accept that the ‘expert’ witnesses of the ‘procescution’ had any qualifications either. He does not believe in any natural therapies. That means that for those people that prefer to go to a natural therapist and not mainstream medicine, will not find anyone qalified according to him. Mr Dresen was not a fake or charlatan, his credentials were real and acceptable to people who seek natual therapies.
*drily*
so he earned his credentials.
conbine that with an appalling lack of ethics
and his “credibility” is at ground zero no matter how qualified he is.
get bent Barb.
Yeah I went there. You chose NOT to comment on his actions but sought to point out a mistake Pyhlameana had made in posting this story. That being said it is apparent to me that rape and the taking advantage of women looking for a measure of healing who trusted this ass cactus wasn’t even an issue with you.
Frankly I wish he’d have 10 years solid in jail in solitary which is still poor compensation for the women who were assaulted.
Here’s wishing for some enlightenment in your not-too-distant-future.
::growls::
I am not trying to defend has actions, rape & indecent assault are serious. People are entitled to know the truth & they seem to believe everything that is published or on TV. I was in court every day all through the commital hearing and the trial. He did NOT Rape any of these women, there was one rape conviction in 1995 which he admitted and regretted. He served his time for that. Now you may feel all superior & think that you have the right to make judgement, but you WERE NOT in court everyday – it was a closed court. Certainly let the people know the truth, but I resent people lowering themselves to sensationalism. You may try to undermine what I am saying & point out that I did not comment on everything that was reported, I don’t care. But I do care about the truth.
how do you know what I feel like? do not project your feelings and assumptions on me. Im not your issue or pattern of behaviour mirror got that?
that being said..WHY did he PLEAD GUILTY TO FIVE COUNTS OF INDECENT ASSULT?
*shakes head* what ever truth seeker..go forth and see the world through your perception.
Oops! Hit a raw nerve did I?
I must have hit a nerve with you in regards to the underhanded dirty old man who practices under the guise of being an ethical healer of which he is NOT
He pleaded to Five counts of indecent assault..that is the subject of the post, not remarking on whether or not you hit a nerve with me. I CHOSE to take things personally or not at all.. and for all intents and purposes little truth seeker..do yourself and everyone else a favour..
in the future do not just remark on someone’s glaring mistake and not comment on the content of their post.
You bore me..this thread is terminated. I won’t respond to anything else you may say.
The guy might have good qualifications in his field of activity. But he has lost his ethical compass. He is like those MBAs from Harvard and Yale who were involved in the recent financial shenanigans.
Any woman who met him and did not become a victim should thank their lucky stars that he was imprisoned before it happened to them too.
The guise that Dirty Dieter used to lure vulnerable women into positions where they could be harmed is what makes him a fake and a charlatan.
Even more sickening is his group of enablers who harass and threaten his victims to try to stop them from speaking out against him. In effect prolonging the abuse his victims have to suffer.
None of you were in the room when these offenses happened so how can you say with any conviction that what these women say is untrue?
