It is true that breakfast can make or break our day. But knowing this doesn't always influence us to make the best breakfast choices each morning. We are creatures of habit, and unfortunately our habits are not always good.
Breakfast combinations listed in the poll below were taken from Julie Deardorff's breakfast ratings as published in The Buffalo News. Her ratings are BAD, BETTER or BEST.
You might be surprised to learn that skipping breakfast is worse for you than eating that double chocolate doughnut. My all-time-favorite breakfast, oatmeal with blueberries and flaxseed would be rated the very best if I would also eat a hard-boiled egg along with my cereal.

I LOVE breakfast. My problem was the timing for eating it. I get up at 5 a.m. and I cannot eat breakfast that early. But, I didn’t want to skip it, so I was having a couple of bites of toast and a bit of egg at 6 a.m. Then by 9 a.m. I’d be starving.
Now, I have discovered this fantastic food bar in my building at work. At 9 a.m. I trot down and get: hardboiled egg; cottage cheese topped with frozen raspberries & blueberries; mixed fresh fruit (melons, strawberries, grapes, kiwi). I have energy to spare right up to lunch time.
The only thing I’m missing is a grain of some kind. There is granola I can add to the mix, and I might start doing that.
