Sometimes in Yoga classes I wondered what to do with my hands. I didn’t know there was a right way. Interesting image gallery.
Hands can be so expressive. Love the collection of photos!
I never knew this. Lovely image gallery…I hope everyone clicks through to see all the mudras.
Interesting! A language in hand positions.
Nice clear photo of the hand position… easy to read.
I find this hand position very calming. Try it, if you haven’t already!
That is really interesting! And so many of the murdas are so graceful, as well.
Very interesting, thank you! BTW, that’s a really good picture, even unrelated to Yoga.
I feel better just looking at the picture. It is good to keep learning about ways to improve and preserve your health that don’t involve doctors and drugs.
Lovely hands, Phylameana. I need to meditate more, but I always fall asleep…
After looking through the gallery, I’ve decided that that one, and the Buddha Mudra are my favorites.
Thanks for teaching me something new!
I feel calmer myself just by looking at your photos. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the accompanying photo gallery. Though I have, on reflection, seen these hand gestures, I didn’t know that they were called mudras–let alone differently named mudras. Your site offers such wondrously stress-free learning. Then again, the stress-free part is surely the whole point, isn’t it?
What an interesting little gallery. (Am I still allowed to do this if my manicure is not so perfect as the one in the photo?!)
Bobbie
Bobbie,
I’m the hand model for these mudras. Thanks for noticing my fingernails. Not a one was broken, but I think I broke one of my thumbnails the day after I finished the photo shoot for these photos. Nails can be short or long, manicured or not — is not important.
The picture itself exudes calm! I learned this long ago from my mother, and it’s a position that’s helpful even without full meditation — in a stressful meeting, for instance.
