Another Dream Poll - Falling in Your Dreams
| Just like flying dreams there are a wide variety of dream themes about falling. Where as flying dreams can feel exhilarating, falling dreams usually will have the opposite effect. Falling dreams are often manifestations of our fears and anxieties. So what does it mean to fall in your dreams? Here are a few ideas: Falling from the Skies: Flying downwards from the heavens may symbolize a "fall from grace." Has an authority figure expressed disappointment in you? Have you embarrassed yourself by recent behaviors? Being Pushed: Loss of empowerment. Getting fired or looked over in a promotion you were hoping for. Or, being bullied or forced into an uncomfortable situation. Stumbling as you Walk: Feeling as if you have lost your way in your life path. Overly anxious about finding your life purpose. Jumping without a Parachute: Being or feeling unsupported by others. Being Jerked Awake: Have you ever been awoken from a falling dream? Or felt a jerking sensation in your body that jolts you awake? One theory for this happening is that your spiritual body has returned from its astral flight and that "jolt" is the dreamer experiencing re-entry into the physical realm. Thank you for voting in the poll, please comment about your common dream themes.

Interesting topic! I’ve always had flying dreams (in fact, that’s my litmus test to see if I’m dreaming–instead of pinching myself, I try to fly, and then I know if I’m awake or not!), but I’ve also had falling dreams occasionally–the type that jerk me awake. It’s interesting to hear a possible explanation for that. Most of my other dreams are very obvious–I’m stressed about a situation, and I’ll dream that I’m in that situation, working things out. Not too veiled symbolism there…
How about dreams where you are running away from something but you don’t get very far? I get those sometimes. My only other recurring dream is trying to find a clean bathroom, but then I wake up and know why I have that dream!
It is an interesting topic, and I am glad I have the opportunity to share my experience with you.
I had the same falling dream from my childhood years till late 20s. Then it stopped so no falling anymore the past decade. In my dreams I was standing (I saw myself standing) and watching a wolf that was running very fast and without any hesitation ran over the edge of the cliff. The falling sensation in my stomach was so intense that I had to sit up and wait it to pass.
I’m 68. As a child I often dreamed about falling from a railroad trestle near my home. I often played on the trestle, loved heights, climbing trees etc. The dream always woke me up while in the fall. I did actually fall out of a bunk bed once that required stitches in my forehead.
Tammy, I have running dreams, too (as well as flying and falling dreams). The running dreams are always awful, like wearing lead boots when a brain-eating zombie is after me, and I used to be a for real sprinter.
I don’t know if Phyl will ever offer a poll for clean/vacant restroom dreams, but I hear you on many levels. Not much interpretation needed there.
