Carnival of Healing #140 Questions to Ask Yourself

Saturday May 31, 2008
Welcome to this week's Carnival of Healing. The carnival tents have returned home for this edition. I've chosen to organize the various contributions (carnival attractions) by first posing a question. If any of the questions or answers interest you, click away. I hope you enjoy the variety of healing topics that are typically available to you each Saturday, I know I sure look forward to the carnival each week. I feel honored today to have the opportunity to serve as host.

What is the Carnival of Healing?

The Carnival of Healing is a weekly round-up of blogs across the Internet featuring information about healing, self empowerment, and spirituality.

Volunteer to Host the Carnival on Your Blog

Yes, hosting takes some effort sorting through the various submissions and posting the carnival, but all my hosts have told me that the benefits are worth it. Hosting the carnival brings traffic to your blog, you have the opportunity to meet new friends, and you'll learn alot when reviewing all the submissions.

I am currently seeking carnival hosts for July 5, 12, 19, and 26.

Do you know what you want? Do you know why you want it? Then you are on the fast track in taking control of the changes in your life. David B. Bohl says "Instead of making conscious choices, one day you discover that you’re living a life shaped primarily by change rather than by choice."

Is your body your friend or your enemy? Recognizing that your body reacts instinctively to bringing itself back to optimal health whenever it is in distress or harm. Anmol Mehta says "The key to natural healing is to be positive, relaxed and at peace mentally. The concepts of you are not your body, and the body's fantastic inbuilt healing capacities greatly help facilitate this state."

Do you resist and struggle when your life path turns difficult? Lawrence Doochin says "...resistance is what increases the intensity, plus resistance is what keeps us in the Spiritual Valleys and Dark Nights of the Soul longer.

Is your diet rich in antioxidants? Luckily we don't have to go as far as the Himalayas to learn about the secret of the goji berry, its benefits, and more. Deb Bixler says "Antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables are powerful healing tools. The most powerful antioxidants found is the goji berry."

How youthful looking is your skin? Benefits of youthful skin goes beyond moisturizing your face each morning. There are plenty of things that you can do to improve the look and texture of your skin. Casey Markee says "Looking younger isn't always beyond your reach, regardless of age." Also check out everyday tips to prevent acne suggested by Murphy at allnaturalacne.com and Aparna's tips to ease sunburn ouch.

How much do you know about QiGong? I was happy to see two carnival entries on the topic of QiGong this week. I've been exploring QiGong (pronounced chee gung) this past week myself. I rented a DVD and have been practicing some of the movements. Very relaxing! Chris, Martial Development says "Learn the incredible story of Guo Lin, an artist who cured herself of cancer and taught others to do the same." Kathlyn Stone interviews energy healer David Nelson who practices Qigong and other healing modalities. Explaining Qigong to a Novice

What do you see in this inkblot? Doctor of Clinical Psychology, David Godot, explains the theory behind the Hermann Rorschach & The Amazing Technicolor Inkblot He says "This article describes a method for understanding the unconscious bases of perception, and talks about using this method for personal growth."

Do you want to learn how to meditate? Astrid Lee offers a how-to article on learning the simple art of meditation. Astrid says "Meditation is simple. However simple does not mean easy. Let me show you the various ways you can meditate."

Are you keeping a secret? I don't have any deep hidden secrets although I can be discreet about who I confide in with my personal stuff. But I agree with Chandra that secrets can be poison. Chandra Alexander asks "Are you keeping a secret about yourself that’s killing you on the inside? If you are, understand why these secrets are poison and keep you from loving relationships."

Carnival Interlude: The Snack Shack

Do you love peanut butter? Chris Davis blogs about Healthy Snack Trend: Single-Serving Nut Butters

Do you peel that apple before you eat it? Please don't, an apple a day can keep the oncologist away. "Some of the compounds identified in apple peels reduce the size of tumors while other compounds slow the spread of the cancers."

Are you wanting a "meaty" taste in your veggie burger? Raymond gives tribute to Boca veggie burgers in his post A Healthy Meal Option For Guys Who Can’t Cook. I didn't know a guy could have that much to say about the goodness of a frozen entree. But I guess I should have, Boca veggie burgers have long been a staple in our freezer. I actually have never eaten one myself. These burgers are among my husband's favorite snacks stash. For me a burger is a meal, not a snack. Guess I should try serving a couple of them up for our supper sometime.

Are you an emotional eater? That's a loaded question for me since I have a kitchen drawer dedicated to candy and cookies. But, truthfully, I don't feel I'm an emotional eater who seeks comfort in food, but I do have a sweet tooth. Ananga Sivyer offers 4 Key Steps to Breaking Free from Emotional Eating. This article explores four ways to become more aware of your eating and emotional habits so that you can discover simple ways to nourish yourself without reaching for the biscuit tin.

Faced any fears lately? Avani says "...the biggest, most exciting and most memorable moments of my life have been those when I went ahead inspite of fears and excelled."

What's wrong with you? In his blog post Who Is The “I” That Is “Worthless”?, Chris Edgar says "Many of us harbor deep-seated negative ideas about ourselves that nothing we accomplish out in the world seems to shake. What we don’t usually consider is who we’re talking about when we think something like “I am worthless.” In other words, what do we really mean by “I”? Regularly asking yourself this question can do much to give you a sense of peace and composure, and quiet your negative thinking."

Is red wine good for you? Drinking red wine, for me personally, is a migraine trigger, so I stay far away from it. I get the same results from drinking grape juice. Too bad, because it is sure tasty. Barbara Schreiber suggests carnival goers read RX Wine, by Kara Rogers. Barbara says "Very interesting and informative blog post about the possible health benefits of red wine."

How FIT is your FAMILY? Jessica Donnovan offers 13 Ideas for Fun Family Fitness Plans
