Review: The Everything Reiki Book
Monday March 1, 2004
I recently announced the release of my new book The
Everything Reiki Book. I have been experiencing first-time author nervousness wondering how the book will be received. Today, some of that edginess has been smoothed a bit after I received the newest issue of the Blueskywaters Healing The Earth/Ourselves e-newsletter. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Jim Ewing has read my book and wrote a favorable review of it to pass on to his readership. Jim... if you are reading this, thank you very much for reading my book! I've 'copied and pasted' the text of his review here if you would care to read Jim's opinion of my book.
I have a veritable library of Reiki books and this one leaps over the mass of them. It's an incredible book. It answers just about every Reiki question that might come up in a practice, for beginners and well-established practitioners. Consider it sort of the Physician's Desk Reference for Reiki people, answering such questions as standard rates to charge and the pros and cons of various types of attunements. But it also covers all the basics, from hand positions to explanations of the branches of Reiki. In short, it really is an 'everything' book about Reiki. It really lives up to its name. But it also goes beyond that. It manages to explain Reiki in a way that people who aren't familiar with it can understand, as well as give experienced practitioners advice and 'nuggets' of information they might not have found without quite a lot of research. If you have a loved one or friend who wants to know "Just what is this Reiki stuff, anyway?" you can refer them to this book without a lot of esoteric language or nebulous ideas. Like I said, it's really incredible. A great piece of work.
This one definitely goes in my list of suggested reading. With a star! With this book, she's done a great service for all who practice Reiki.
Aho. Jim Ewing

We in the legitimate Reiki Community do not appreciate being misrepresented in this way. Reiki is neither sensual nor a massage. It would behoove you & other disingenuos folk to recall your materials. Thank you.
Tony,
Either you are extremely sensitive to the subject of sexuality OR you didn’t take the time to read the article Reiki and Your Sex Life in its entirety. What is described is a Reiki/Massage combo. Reiki complements the massage one partner gives to another….
If you had gotten to the end of the article you would have read this note:
—- NOTE —-
The back rub massage described here should not be used as therapy in a clinical setting or as a healing practice. Such behavior is not acceptable between a practitioner and a client and should be reserved for your intimate relationship.
I wanted you to know Phylameana, that I ordered your book The Everything Reiki Book and how excited I am to read it. I have my Level 2 in Reiki and I’m presently logging 24 hours of client volunteers so I can join the CRA. Once I’ve join and have my certificates through CRA, I will be a practioner. I’ve decided to go to the clients home, so that they feel more comfortable in their own environment. I have clients waiting in the wings.
I do have a question though. Offering a foot bath after the session and using oils for the feet, is that appropriate? I wanted to offer something extra for my client.
