Ways to Increase Your Metabolism

BRRRR... It's cold outside today (-4 degrees) - One of the problems I encounter having a home-based office is not wanting to venture outside when it is cold outdoors. I mean... why would I want to go out when it's cozier inside the house. The problem is that my activity level is limited when I choose to stay at home on any given day. I try to make it to the gym at least three days a week, but freezing temps can make me too lazy to venture out. For that reason
I do have a workout bench and assortment of free weights in our basement so I can at the very least do some weight training. I also have DVDs of yoga and pilates programs to help me stretch my muscles and balance my energy. However, getting the cardio workout I need here at home can still be challenging. Lucky me, we live in a two-story home and I find myself going up and down the stairs dozens of times throughout the day... so I'm not really sedentary. However, the whole idea of increasing your metabolism is to go beyond your normal activity level for approximately 30 minutes each day. Breathing heavier and sweating affirms we are increasing our metabolism.
