I recall clipping a piece from a women's magazine (probably "Woman's Day"
or "Family Circle") in the 70s that I picked up at the checkout lane
at the local grocery market. It was a cute poem that gave superstitious meanings
for various locations of moles or birthmarks on the body. I actually framed it and
hung it in my bathroom as a conversation piece. I don't remember whatever became
of it.
I'm considering gathering some information about birthmarks and folklore to put together in a fun and interesting article sometime in the future. I might include a photo gallery of unquie birthmark photos such as the Butterfly Birthmark shown here. If you have information or photos to share on this subject please send me an email inquiry.

My friend has a birthmark in the shape and color of the dark half of the yin yang symbol. I am trying to find out if there is some superstitious meaning to it.
i have a perfect triangle sitting on the side of my spine in the middle of my back.
I have a big diamond shaped birthmark on my collar bone by my neck and four more little birthmarks right above it and they form a diamond if you connect them too. and i was wondering if there some kind of meaning to that? THANKS=]

I have a small light brown birthmark on the back of my left shoulder. It’s sort of the shape of a fish. The catch is that my father has the exact same one in the same place! My mother was also born with a birthmark that went away when she was a baby. It was on her right arm and it was the number 113. My grandparents said the numbers were plain as day. Even the 3.
When my daughter was born in 2002,the only birthmark she bore was a dark circle on her right ankle. When my son was born EXACTLY 16 months after her, he bore a dark circle on his left ankle (also his only birthmark). I feel like I got a completer set of Yin & Yang!

i was born with a strawberry birth mark in the shape of a celtic cross on my forehead which went away shortly after i turned one, but i also have two tan circles underneath my breast, as i get older they get darker. still trying to find out what they mean.
why is there superstitions on birthmarks, they are natural. I have a huge mark on my arm that goes up to my shoulder which developed when I was 6 years old, though you really have to look out cause they can be cancerous or develop into cancer.
I have a medium sized birthmark on the back of my right thigh about 2 inches below where my butt ends. If your looking at it from my point of view, it’s a sideways heart with bottom pointing towards the rest of my body.

I have a large birthmark on my back in the shape of a bird. Its wings span from 1 shoulder blade to the next. It has a beak and what looks like a crown on its head.it has long tail feathers that go down the middle of my back. Kinda like a phoenix or albatros? I dont know.

Yeah, I have a birthmark on my left hand. It’s pinkish and I’ve had it since I was newborn. I’m now 20. I don’t know what it is shaped like but it is close to my thumb and ring finger.
I have yet to find someone else with a birthmark on their left hand in the same place.
I wonder if it means anything, like if I was bitten or my hand was cut off in a past life.

This is weird because i have a red teardrop birthmark 45degrees below my left eye. Red teardrops sybolize that you’ve lost a lovedone. As a kid i had a reoccuring dream that my wife was killed in front of me. i was like 6 or 7 at the time, i obiously hadn’t lived that.

I have an light oval shaped birthmark near the bridge of my nose, closer to my eyebrow. I learned today that the light/tan ones are called “Cafe au lait spots.”
My youngest daughter has an identical birthmark as my sister…same shape, same place on the back of their leg. She also has an inverted/symetrical one on her back. It’s beautifully unique… it’s the same thing on the left shoulder blade, but transposed as a white birthmark on the right shoulder blade.

I read today that birthmarks are a place where energy can focus in development, explaining the additional pigmentation in one particular area, and these areas are areas where we have strength. Something like that.

I have a red birth mark on my stomach. It appeared when i was about 6. It is a perfectly shaped heart with wings and its turned sideways. I used to have one on my left eye, but it when away at the same time this one appeared.
I have a weird birthmark on the left side of my neck. It almost looks like a scar; or my skin never quite finished growing over; or it has come to me that it looks a lot like a rope burn mark……almost like I was hanged!! Also interesting is that I have, since I could talk, had a stutter – something I have tried all thru my path to overcome….and have not succeeded YET!! I also them have loads of small ones scattered over my body. When I look in the mirror it looks like a galaxy, or a part of a galaxy.
