Diane says it is essential that healing stones be dedicated to the light and energetically cleared... more about A to Z Gemstones: A Handy Reference to Healing Crystals

What I especially like about this book:

  1. Simplicity of overall format
  2. Design of index tabbing on page sides
  3. Helpful recommendations of specfic applications for healing chakras

Carnival of Healing #137

Motivational Speaker, Life Coach, and Empowered Woman, Debra Moorhead once again serves our healing community by graciously hosting Carnival of Healing. This week's carnival consists of an interesting mix of contributions that offers something for everyone. Debra says:
"...about half-way through putting the carnival together, I realized that instead of finding a traditional theme to do with healing, what I was experiencing was an amazing collection of articles educating us about wellness."
Debra's descriptions will certainly entice you to click through to most of the carnival attractions, if not all of them.

Mother's Day Flower Essence

lilac flowersLilacs are usually in bloom beginning in late April and through May. This makes the lilac a good seasonal flower choice for a Mother's Day bouquet. Mom will love the nostalgic whiffs of fragrant lilac and colorful hues of its clusters of blooms. It is not surprising that lilac flower essence is infused with Gaia (Earth Mother) energies.

Obesity and the Use of Alternative Medicine

In a twelve month study researchers from Harvard Medical School compared the use of alternative and complementary modalities between normal weight (BMI from 18 to 25), overweight (from 25 to 30), mildly obese (from 30 to 35), moderately obese (from 35 to 40), and extremely obese (40) adults.

Calculate Your BMI (Body Mass Index)

Research Objective
"Obesity is associated with higher health-care costs due, in part, to higher use of traditional health care."

Reasearch Findings
"Adults with obesity have lower prevalence of use of yoga therapy, and similar prevalence of use of several CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) modalities, including relaxation techniques, natural herbs, massage, chiropractic medicine, tai chi, and acupuncture, compared to normal-weight individuals."

Facing Adversity with Strength

carnival of healing A-ha TV's Ife Oshun is our host for this week's edition of the Carnival of Healing. Her carnival theme Facing Adversity with Strength involves the enlightenment of Earth and the resilence of its inhabitants -we the humans- following on the heels of devastating storms. This is Ife's second time hosting - I applaud her for a job well done AND for bringing the importance of Healing our Planet to the forefront.

Mystical Totem: The Unicorn

As a spiritual messenger, the Unicorn represents the development of intuition through visualization. The pointed or spiraling horn that projects from the brow of the unicorn symbolizes third eye opening. Unicorn totem indicates a need or desire for meditation and self exploration. Unicorns may very well be the most magickal of all the mystical totems. Legend says the blood of the Unicorn has healing properties making it most valuable to anyone in need of healing.
